Forum’s Brand New Shaka Binding Wins SIA SnowPress Innovation Award

BURLINGTON, VT (April 16, 2009) – Every year SIA’s SnowPress Show Daily honors the snowsports industry’s best innovations for the upcoming season. For 2010, Forum’s all-new Shaka Binding receives top recognition in the category of Skill. “The SIA SnowPress Innovation Awards honor the equipment that our editorial team feels will have the greatest impact on the future of snowsports,” says Peter Kray, Editorial Director of the SnowPress Show Daily. Forum Director of Bindings Chris Cunningham states, “We’re super pumped that SIA recognizes the Shaka as the future of snowboard bindings. We have really unlocked the board’s flex with the Shaka, now making any 4×4 deck even more fun to ride.”
Built to work with any 4-hole pattern board on the market, the split base of the Shaka works in conjunction with Forum’s entirely new Hinge Disc allowing for not only a more natural board flex, but also the added value of more control to the reverse camber board. In addition, a full-length EVA and FGel footpad provides the ultimate in dampening and cush comfort. Whether slashing the lip or destroying the park, there’s no need for a new board to get a new sensation.

More on the Shaka can be seen this summer at forumsnowboards.com.

Got to demo these puppies this season at st louis/moonstone, dear sin they are amazing. No questions asked for sure my next park binding.

  • interesting Says:

you would think that if the innovation was in the baseplate they would provide some pictures that showed the baseplate.

  • weaksauce Says:

Is that Rasta? How original, since shreddin is so popular in the Caribbean

  • IDK Says:

idk man judging by the pics these bindings don’t look very strong and the straps look pretty basic but i do like the thick baseplate cuz that really helps those with big feet

  • TRMMI Says:

dude, the colorway has got more to do with reggae i think. i’m down with the rasta colorway

  • andrew Says:

    yeah,
    the rasta is getting overplayed…

    lol

  • MA Says:

i have the opinion, that this binding doesn’t help the board to flex naturally. apparently the heel cup is stiff and this blocks the board to flex. there are just a few possibilities to help the board flexing naturally with a mounted binding but this one doesn’t. anyone share my opinion?

My problem with them is that the toe strap always slips back. I got the Forum Constant Boot. Does anyone has an answer?

    The rasta colorway is timeless.

  • shredzilla Says:

wait till you see them and ride them to form your opinion, there is no baseplate on thses bindings. it is really sweet when you get them on snow no dead spot under your boot.

  • MATTSEPETA Says:

Way to tell us WHY these won an award, other than

“split base of the Shaka works in conjunction with Forum’s entirely new Hinge Disc allowing for not only a more natural board flex, but also the added value of more control to the reverse camber board”

THEN you conveniently link to forums website… How is this NEWS, this is an ADVERTISEMENT. No picture of this “Innovation” unless we go to forums website?

  • Cheezy Says:

Yeah and the website doesnt offer any info on them!! EPIC FAIL!!

  • J-Rock Says:

These might be the most magical thing since Criss f-ing Angel, but any company that makes anything that happens to be affiliated with Burton is bound to be absolute bullshit. Woohoo! The “we spend the most money on advertising” product wins another award! If i could only train my bent metal bindings to piss on them…

  • J-Rock Says:

Hit that nail on the head man lol.

  • fino Says:

Yea i’ve looked all over for a single review from anybody about this, but theres none, id love to put it on a reverse camber but id love just about a single person say something good about them that wasnt paid from it lol

  • Chris Says:
