Junior World Champion Tyler Emonds and former Junior World Champion Adam Petraska will join the coaching staff for the Ross Powers Snowboard Camp at Belleayre Mountain next weekend.
Emonds, a Stratton Mountain School grad and rookie member of the US Snowboard team, has been making noise in the halfpipe all year long. He made the semifinals at the US Open last March, then started this season off with as top-10 finish in the World Cup competition at Valle Nevado, Chile. He finished 11th at the Grtand Prix in Park City last November and 20th at Mammoth in January.
Petraska, who won the Junior World Championships in 1998 and ’99, has been concentrating on photo, film and video shoots where his smooth and consistent style makes him a favorite of the shooters.
These two hot young riders will join Powers and the Belleayre training coaches in the all-mouintain camp beginning with a get together at Belleayre Friday night. Saturday and Sunday will be full days on the mountain. Campers will ride with the pros for as long as they can stand it.
Registration has been light for the camp, which means that every camper will get plenty of individualized coaching from these top pro riders. The opportunity to train in mid-season with an Olympic Gold Medalist and other top professional athletes for about $150 does’nt happen every day. There is still time to sign up. The USASA and Belleayre Season Passholder discounts are still being offered. Registrations can be made online at the RadXSports website. You can also sign up at Belleayre this weekend.
