Lake Harmony, PA—Prestige, honor, and bragging rights are at stake and the question still remains. Who has the best snowboard shop team on the east coast? Big Boulder Mountain in picturesque Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania announced today that it will provide the ultimate forum to help answer the controversial question. The East Coast Team Challenge, a team snowboard slopestyle event to be held on Tuesday, January 9th, 2007 where shop employees and off-the-street rippers will battle it out for top honors and plain-old bragging rights. It’s not bragging if you can back it up!
The East Coast Team Challenge will take place in all Big Boulder Park’s custom designed freestyle terrain. In preparation for the 2007 season, Big Boulder Park has recently hired two leading terrain park designers and has been hard at work fabricating nearly 40 new innovative jibs and terrain features. “We have the plan, the knowledge, the management support and the snowmaking system to back-us up, said Shawn Orecchio, Director of Freestyle Terrain and Product Development. “It is our mission to become one of the east coast’s premier terrain park programs to date.
The jam-format for the East Coast Team Challenge is a unique four-rider team concept where riders will session various terrain features and each rider will be scored individually and as a team. The Team Challenge is broken down into two competition categories; a ‘Shop Staff’ category and an “Open Category. The event is all-ages, but you must be 18 years of age or older to qualify for the grand prize to Breckendridge, Colorado.
‘Shop Staff’ Team Category
Shop employees from up-and-down the east coast will make the pilgrimage to Big Boulder Resort to vie for the coveted “East Coast Team Championship. The team that throws-down, and impresses the judges with their uncanny skills will claim top honors and score a trip for four to Breckenridge, Colorado. That’s right, your friends at Big Boulder Resort have ponied-up big time and will be sending the winning team to Breck to session the park and parte’ in Breck’s swankiest establishments! Remember this is a shop employee discipline and all participants in this category will be required to show proof of employment. Registration will open 12/1/06 and there is no fee or this category.
‘Open’ Team Category
Not to worry, if you don’t work for a shop and prefer the various advantages of being unemployed and stale lo-mein noodles is your starch of choice; this category is just for you. The Open Category is, well, just that…open! Just call up three comrades that rip, put together a team of four and you too can join all of the slopestyle festivities. Top honors in this category will receive high-end product from Big Boulder Park’s’ illustrious sponsors. This registration fee for this discipline is $100 per team and includes lift tickets for four riders.
RedBull Illume Photo Workshop and Shootout
During the slopestyle sessions, pro and amateur photographers alike will be capturing the freestyle calamity as part of the RedBull Illume Photo Workshop and Shootout. Aspiring amateur photographers will work side-by-side with some of the industry’s best and hone their skills in this hands-on classroom workshop and event shootout.
