PARK CITY, Utah (Dec. 1) – Doritos has signed as title sponsor for thetraditional Saturday exhibition contests at the three Chevy S-10 U.S.Snowboard Grand Prix events this winter. ESPN and ESPN2 will broadcastthe competitions as the $45,000 Doritos Loud Air & Style.
“These invitation-only Saturday exhibitions have been one of the mostpopular parts of the Grand Prix weekends over the past three winters.They draw big crowds to watch riding at the highest level,” said JeremyForster, manager of the $400,000 Chevy S-10 U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix.
Look for well known names such as Ross Powers, Shannon Dunn and KevinJones to compete in one or more of these events. “We’re extremelypleased Doritos is sponsoring the exhibitions; their support has enabledus to add a musical element to the festivities and bring stand alonehalf hour TV shows to the best sports network in the world.”
The schedule:* Dec. 11 – Quarterpipe at Mammoth Mountain, Calif. (telecast: Jan. 10at 3:30 p.m. EST on ESPN2)* Jan. 8 – Big Air at Breckenridge, Colo. (telecast: Jan. 24 at 3:30p.m. EST on ESPN2)* Feb. 12 – Triple Air at Northstar-at-Tahoe, Calif. (telecast: March 7at 2 p.m. on ESPN)
The field for each event will be limited to 16 men and eight women.Prize money is $15,000 per event. In addition to the high caliber ofcompetition, national and local bands will provide music throughout thecompetitions for the Doritos Loud Air & Style to add more energy andflavor to the high-charged, festive atmosphere.
