We’re sad to report that Danny Davis was injured in a non-snowboard related ATV accident early Sunday morning outside of Park City, Utah. A statement from his agent  Sue Izzo confirmed that his injuries are non-life threatening, but it is clear from an update made by Sue on the “Danny Davis Pro Snowboarder” Facebook page that Danny sustained an L3 spinal fracture. It was reported that his surgery on Tuesday night went well. Three days later, on Thursday, he is returning to surgery to repair a fracture on the left side of his pelvis. We are not clear whether that is the full extent of his injuries. He will not be competing for the rest of the 2010 season including the Olympics.

Danny Davis just won the Winter Dew Pipe Finals at Snowbasin on Saturday, the weekend before he beat out Shaun White in the second stop of the Grand Prix Olympic Halfpipe qualifiers at Mammoth Mountain. He had been expected to make the US Snowboard Olympic team.
