Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR) opens Saturday November 20, 2004, under the new ownership of Tim and Diane Mueller. After the annual ribbon cutting ceremony at 9 a.m., Tim, Diane and son Ethan Mueller will ride the first chair.
Although Mother Nature has not been overly cooperative thus far this season, our extensive new snowmaking capabilities, which have been operating since early November, will enable skiers and riders to enjoy cruising “Colorado’s Best Corduroy(tm)”. At least three runs serviced by the Red Lady Express Lift will be open. Snowmaking will continue and more terrain will open as winter sets in and natural snow helps build base depths.
Months of planning, remodeling, replacing, repainting, and upgrading will be evident on opening day. CB Mountain Schools, Kids’ World, Guest Services and Lift Operations personnel will be decked out in new Spyder uniforms. Cedar siding on lift terminals, new lift houses and new color signage will greet and guide skiers on the mountain.
At the base area, Coors Light Butte66 Roadhouse BBQ, featuring its specialties, BBQ ribs and fried pickles, will open its doors for lunch and après ski. The retail shop, ‘Base AreaBasics’, will showcase their remodeling efforts that include expanded retail lines and Camp 4 Coffee. CB Mountain Schools will open their doors for adult and children ski and snowboard instruction at 8:30 a.m.
We will continue to update you as we open additional terrain. Log on to skicb.com for current weather and snow conditions.
