Copper Mountain’s Band Line-Up Sunsation 2003

Copper Mountain, CO…March 7, 2003… Copper Mountain officials announced the preliminary line-up for Sunsation 2003 today. Back for its third year, Sunsation promises to be bigger and better than ever as it stretches from two days to three and boasts a musical line-up that spans the musical spectrum. From April 11 — 13, 2003, musical classics Toots and the Maytals and Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe will share the stage with up-and-coming pop-punk sensations the Riddlin’ Kids and MXPX. As in years past, the event will take place outside in Burning Stones Plaza and all performances will be free to the public. In addition to the following bands, more acts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. Following is the preliminary music schedule for Sunsation Weekend:

Saturday, April 12, 2003
Riddlin’ Kids — This Austin-based foursome that delivered pizzas to pay for demo albums is now taking over radio stations across the country, as well as MTV, with their pop-driven punk music.

MXPX — A pop/punk band whose lyrics Spin Magazine has described as “suspiciously un-punk soul-searching.” With over one million albums sold, the band has opened for such favorites as No Doubt and the Sex Pistols.

Toots and the Maytals — Lead by Jamaican native and reggae legend Toots Hibbert, this group has influenced the entire genre for nearly four decades with their authentic Jamaican sounds.Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe — The former tenor saxophonist for Lenny Kravitz and co-founder of The Greyboy Allstars — Karl Denson has created a new school version groove jazz. His Tiny Universe is guaranteed to keep the audience dancing throughout the afternoon.

In addition to these free outdoor performances, Sunsation will offer guests a street party atmosphere complete with outdoor barbecues, beer gardens, the Eenie Weenie Bikini Contest and more – all designed to celebrate the end of the winter and usher in summer.
