Burton Snowboards To Open First Learn To Ride Center In South America At Valle Nevado Resort In Chile

BURLINGTON, VT (July 12, 2013) – This weekend, Burton Snowboards is excited to celebrate the grand opening of South America’s first Learn to Ride (LTR) center in Valle Nevado resort near Santiago, Chile. Bringing world-class snowboarding instruction, Burton gear and programs for all ages, the new LTR center is the first of its kind in South America.

“At Burton, we’re dedicated to partnering with resorts around the world to bring accessible snowboarding experiences to riders everywhere, so we are beyond stoked to launch our first LTR center in South America,” said Jeff Boliba, Vice President of Global Resorts for Burton Snowboards. “Valle Nevado boasts the best snow and amazing instructors, so it was a natural fit from the start.”

To celebrate the new LTR center, Valle Nevado will host a Grand Opening event this Saturday, July 13th, 2013. The fun-filled day will begin with a meet and greet at the base of the gondola at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Chilean-style BBQ at Bajo Zero restaurant.

For young beginners, the new LTR center also features a Burton Riglet Park designed to introduce children as young as three years old to snowboarding. Located within the Valle Nevado Kids Zone, the new Burton Riglet Park features an outer-space exploration theme and uses sculpted terrain and fun, interactive stations to teach kids snowboarding basics.

“The Riglet Park collaboration with Burton sets us ahead of the industry and makes Valle Nevado the most family-friendly mountain in the region,” said Jose Luis Varela, Marketing Manager from Valle Nevado. “We’re the only South American resort to take this approach to snowboarding’s growth by introducing our youth to the sport through the Burton Riglet Park program. The playground-like terrain features will give little ones a fun way to discover the sensation of riding on their own, in a safe and fun way.”

The Burton Learn to Ride center at the Valle Nevado “Casa Escuela” features full and half-day programs for kids and adults, and includes equipment rental, lunch, and plenty of interaction with coaches and other beginners. Detailed lesson information is available online here.
