Burton Ramps Up Spring/Summer 2011

BURLINGTON, VT (March 22, 2011) Building on its deep heritage of creating functional and fashion-forward winter outerwear and gear, Burton is bringing its technical expertise to warmer weather this season, with the launch of its new Spring/Summer collection. Arriving in stores now, Burton’s Spring/Summer line is loaded with fresh and functional pieces like transitional outerwear for rainy spring days and bonded hoodies that keep moisture to a minimum.

For example, the Burton Men’s 2.5 Layer Slick Jacket ($119. 95) is anything but your average windbreaker, with its DRYRIDE Durashell™ 2.5-Layer Coated Fabric for 10,000MMs of waterproofing. On the women’s side, not only is the Lotus Pullover ($89.95) a sweet looking anorak, it’s also made with DRYRIDE Durashell 2-Layer Cross Hatch Woven Fabric, so it keeps the wet weather out. Both jackets also feature a super lightweight, packable design that easily fits in a bag for maximum convenience and function whenever the weather changes.

“I don’t want to stop wearing Burton just because it’s spring or summer,” says Burton team rider Hannah Teter. “They make the best stuff no matter what the season, and I really love the light jackets, tanks and hoodies in the spring line – especially the Lotus Pullover – that’s a hot one.”

Other standouts in Burton’s Spring/Summer line include super functional flannels and hoodies. Like the jackets above, many of these pieces are loaded with more tech features than meet the eye. The Men’s Tech Flannel is a stylish, classic looking flannel shirt made with highly technical DRYRIDE Ultrawick™ Yarn-Dyed fabric that’s quick drying and super breathable. And many of the hoodies aren’t just sweatshirts, they’re made with DRYRIDE Thermex™ Bonded Fleece that provides quick-drying warmth and weather protection – something riders will never get from average cotton hoodies.

On the bag side of things, in addition to a variety of fresh prints and styles, a key highlight for Spring/Summer is ‘The Custom’ colorway collection. For this group, Burton brought the graphic from its most popular snowboard model, the Custom, into its new luggage line. ‘The Custom’ colorway pays homage to the iconic Custom board, and is featured in the travel bags and packs collection. Also available in the Spring/Summer line are Burton’s ‘BYO Bags’ – a favorite at beaches, barbeques and music festivals worldwide. The star of the BYO Bag collection is the completely re-designed Lil’ Buddy ($99.95), which is a cooler, a stereo and the life of every party.
