Waterville Valley, NH—On Saturday January 6th Waterville Valley Resort opened the Burton Progression Park. One press box, 1 flat bar and 2 jumps equaled a whole lot of progession for many. What makes the Progression Park so unique and such an ideal place to learn is the use of “Stop & Drop Zones”. Located before each freestyle element, groups stop at the zone to check out the feature and discuss the proper method of riding it. The Zone signage offers “trick tips,” a picture of a pro rider hitting the feature and a Smart Style message on how to ride parks with safety and style. The park compliments Waterville Valley’s Burton Learn-to-Ride Center which specializes in accelerating the learning curve for snowboarding. All beginner snowboarders in the program are taught on Burton’s LTR boards, which feature a three degree beveled edge to minimize falls caused by catching an edge on the snow. Waterville Valley instructors will showcase the park’s Stop and Drop Zones in lesson programs. In association with this Waterville Valley offers a Burton Progression Camp. This all day camp includes 4 hours of instruction, safety tips and etiquette in the Progression Park. Progression Camp packages with lift tickets and rentals are also available.
