PORTLAND, Ore. (Jan. 22, 2007) < Bonfire Snowboarding will once again behosting the 10th annual Pipe to Pipe Competition on Mt. Hood this summer.Bust out your flannel and get in touch with your west coast roots at theonly laid back summer competition that allows ams, pros, skaters andsnowboarders to throw down in a friendly competition from snow to cement.
Pipe to Pipe’s format allows kids of all ages to ride against the pros June29th and July 20th. The day starts with a rail jam at Windell’s SnowboardCamp on the infamous Palmer Snowfield of Timberline Resort. In theafternoon, the event becomes a jam-format skate competition, which takesplace on the street course at Windell’s in Sandy, Oregon, just off Hwy. 26.Scotty “The Body Conerly will be returning to MC the event. Competitorsand spectators can also expect live music, a B-B-Q hosted by Windell’s andlots of prizes.
The event is open to the public with a signed camp liability waiver. Thepros compete for a winner-takes all cash prize of $1,000 each for the menand women. Bragging rights and $1,000 from Gore-Tex will go to the bestoverall combined result from snow and skate for the two Pipe to Pipe events.
Ams compete for prizes and a chance to receive a 1-year Bonfire outerwearsponsorship and a spot on the Rookie team. Two male and two female amateurwinners from both event dates will then enter their best photos, resumes andvideos to Bonfire. Global Team rider, Josh Sherman and the staff at BonfireHead Quarters will be choosing the best rider from the pool of winners.
Bonfire Global team riders Chad Otterstrom, Josh Dirksen, Leanne Pelosi andNational team riders Matt Ladley, Trevor Jacob, Kevin Casillo, Josh Sherman,Ally Carroll, Bev Vuilleumier and Ross Baker will all be competing in thesnow rail jam alongside campers and staff from both Windell’s and HCSC.
