NOW THIS IS SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR:
Bear Mountain to Open Just in Time for Thanksgiving
Park Staff Puts Final Touches on Rails, Boxes, Jibs and Jumps for Bear’s Opening Day Wednesday, Nov. 24

(Big Bear Lake, Calif – November 23, 2010) – Big Bear Mountain Resorts (BBMR) announced today that Bear Mountain will open Wednesday, Nov. 24, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. With a weekend storm that added four to six inches of fresh snowfall and allowed for around-the-clock snowmaking, conditions will be excellent for the Thanksgiving holiday. Skiers and snowboarders are invited to get a jumpstart on the long holiday weekend, pack up their gear and head up to Bear Mountain for the first day of the 2010-2011 season.

Bear Mountain will open Chair 9 on Wednesday accessing Park Run, which will be stacked with jibs and snow features, all set by Southern California’s favorite park staff.

Snow Summit opened Saturday, Nov. 13 with Miracle Mile (Chair 1) and Bear Bottom Beginner area (Chair 8).  Summit Run (Chair 2) will open Tuesday with more lifts and runs opening throughout the week as conditions permit.  This Friday and Saturday beginning at 3 p.m., Snow Summit will also offer the first night sessions of the season.

Special early season rates will apply on Wednesday.  Full day rates (8 a.m. – 4 p.m) are Adults (22+) $40, Young Adults (13-21) $35 and Children (7-12) $10.  Half day rates (12 p.m. – 4 p.m.) are just $35 for adults, $30 for young adults (13-21) and $10 for children (7 – 12).

Beginning Thursday, regular season rates will be in effect: $56 for adults, $46 for seniors and young adults (13-21), $25 for children (7-12).

“We’re excited to kick-off the season this week, just in time for Thanksgiving and the long holiday weekend,” said Clayton Shoemaker, Park Development and Youth Marketing Director for Big Bear Mountain Resorts.  ”The entire crew has been working around the clock to get things ready. We’ve got some cool things planned for the season and we’re stoked to roll out our new Skill Builder Parks. With the recent snowfall and ideal snowmaking weather, these conditions are definitely the best I’ve seen for Thanksgiving week in years.”

New for the 2010-2011 season, Bear Mountain introduces its Skill Builder ParksTM, designed for beginning terrain park skiers and snowboarders, offering interactive features, rails, boxes and transitions to help guests refine and improve their skills.  Known as the ‘People’s Park,’ with features for all levels, Bear Mountain has also added two new snowcats for better, faster trail and park grooming and remodeled its learning center, along with combining snowboard and ski rentals in one central location.
