Aspen/Snowmass, CO, January 18, 2005. — Aspen Skiing Company will host A.W.O.L. ASPEN and another Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert at the bottom of Little Nell run on Aspen Mountain on Sunday, January 30. This signature Aspen/Snowmass event will rock downtown Aspen while athletes, media, photographers and spectators are in town to take in the most popular action sports event on the planet — ESPN Winter X Games Nine.

A.W.O.L. ASPEN, formerly part of last season’s Thanksjibbing Celebration, features a wallride at the base of Aspen Mountain where skiers and snowboarders scale an insane 30-foot wall feature while a band plays on a stage above it all for the third Budweiser Hi-Fi Concert of the season. This year’s band is Unwritten Law. Considered by many to be one of the founding fathers of the Southern California punk/skate scene, Unwritten Law will be performing songs off their highly anticipated album “Here’s To the Mourning,” which hits stores February 1. The album features the alternative radio smash “Save Me.” “Here’s To The Mourning” is the long-awaited, follow up album to the band’s top-selling 2002 release “Elva” which spawned the MTV hit Seein’ Red.”. Unwritten Law’s rare mountain performance was made possible by one of Aspen Skiing Company’s most valued partners, Nissan, and their relationship with DETAILS Magazine. The event is free and open to the public of all ages.

The event is a jam format where competitors judge each other based on the number, range, difficulty and overall quality of the tricks performed. Athletes will compete for a prize purse of $10,000 and A.W.O.L. ASPEN bragging rights. Look for many local athletes scheduled to participate including Ryan Lougee, Doran Laybourn, Mitch Reed, Steele Spence, and Michael Olenick.
