Quiksilver CEO Awarded By Stoked Mentoring
Action sports youth organization hosts 3rd annual awards event in New York City
(October 20, 2009) New York, NY –Stoked Mentoring announced today that Quiksilver CEO, Bob Mcknight will be awarded the organizations highest accolade, the Achievement Award, for his accomplishments in business and philanthropy and for his continuous support of Stoked at the 3rd annual awards event in New York City on November 12, 2009. The sports youth organization develops successful teens with opportunity, knowledge, experience and determination through action sports such as snowboarding, surfing and skateboarding as well as mentoring.
The awards event will also recognize Jonathan Drubner and Erik Tobar with the Mentoring Pair of the Year Award. Drubner is a Los Angeles based TV host, writer and comedian who has committed his free time over the past 4 years to 17-year-old Tobar. During their time together, Drubner has helped Tobar through challenging life circumstances and has emerged as a solid role model for the 17-year old. The two have formed a strong bond over the years by surfing with Stoked and spending valuable one-on-one time together. As a result, Tobar who has attended 5 high schools in 4 years has earned enough credits to graduate early but has decided to take advantage of the full high school experience and graduate on time next June. Long time Stoked volunteer, Dan Bealey will receive the Stoked Volunteer of the Year Award.
The action sports -studded event will also celebrate the addition of Stoked after school programs in Brooklyn and Queens, and the 2nd year graduation of youths in which 100% of the class is graduating.

At Red Bull Space located on 40 Thompson Street will host this year’s Stoked awards event on November 12, 2009 from 7 pm – 11 pm. E! Entertainment personality Sal Masekela will emcee the evening’s activities with DJ Christopher Sealey spinning tunes for the crowd. Sponsors include Chipotle, VeeV Vodka, Barefoot Wine, and Brooklyn Brewery. VIP tickets are $150, general admission is $100 and Jr. tickets are available for $75.
