Tahoe City, California—Lake Tahoe’s Alpine Meadows Ski Resort will open for skiing and snowboarding Friday, December 2.

The resort will offer intermediate and advanced skiing and snowboarding on a two-foot base of natural and machine-made snow via Kangaroo Chair, located adjacent to the base lodge. A second lift servicing trails extending to mid-mountain is tentatively scheduled, conditions permitting. Four to six terrain park jib features will also be available on Kangaroo Run. Hours of operation will be from 9am to 4pm, weather and conditions permitting.

Facilities and services will include the Meadows Café, Alpine Bakery, Estelle Sports retail shop, season pass office, and the ski/snowboard rental shop, all located in the base lodge. Ski and snowboard lessons will also be available through the private lesson desk.

“Recent snowfall, cold temperatures, and snowmaking efforts have really given the trails we’ve planned to open great coverage, said Jody Churich, Alpine Meadows Marketing Director. “We’re thrilled to open for winter 05/06, as are many of Alpine’s regular clientele, she added. More snow and winter weather is in the forecast. Alpine will open additional terrain as snow conditions permit. Daily snow conditions, base facilities, ticket rates, and season pass information are available by dialing the daily snow report line at 530.581.8374 or by visiting the online snow conditions report at www.skialpine.com.
