Alex Cushing brought the VIII Winter Olympics to Squaw Valley in 1960 and put Lake Tahoe on the map as a world class destination. In 1959, leading up to the Squaw Valley Olympics, Cushing was on the cover of Time Magazine and heralded as the pioneer of skiing in the U.S., and in 1999 he was inducted into the Ski Industry Hall of Fame. His contributions to the sport of skiing and his long time history as a pioneer and visionary are steadfast in the chronicles of skiing in America and will forever remain eminent at Squaw Valley. We hope you will join us in honoring Alex Cushing’s life and achievements this Saturday.
