(Kirkwood Mountain Resort, Kirkwood, Calif.) — Kirkwood received 6-8 inches of fresh snow yesterday and overnight adding to the deep-packed season total of 263 — 345 inches, ideal for huge savings, competitions, expeditions and fundraisers. In addition to the Sierra’s best spring snow conditions, starting April 15, Kirkwood is also offering a variety of spring specials: ski/ride two days for the price of one. April 16, adult full day lift tickets will be reduced to $59 per day from April 16-29. All lift tickets purchased on or after April 15, will be valid for two days of skiing or riding.

Kirkwood will operate chairs 1, 10, 11 and 6 through the end of the season. And, the backside area with chairlifts 2, 3 and 4, along with Timber Creek chairlifts 7 and 9 will be open through Sunday, April 15.

Kirkwood’s 2007/08 Season Passes are now on sale and by purchasing before April 30, pass holders will save on prices and additional benefits. Kirkwood will continue its series of popular competitions with the Kirkwood Cup Series — Slopestyle . Style counts as the competitors tackle the Stomping Grounds terrain park for a series of table tops, rails and show off their tricks on the quarter pipe. Open to the first 100 competitors, registration historically fills quickly, sign up at the Village Plaza between 8 a.m. — 10 a.m. and the competition begins at 11 a.m. The Cup Series continue the following weekend, April 22, with the Rail Jam competition. This weekend, April 14-15, marks the final opportunity for Expedition Kirkwood! The two-day Level 1 AIARE Avalanche Course is taught under the guidelines of the American Institute of Avalanche Research & Education and provides students with the basics for proper decision making while in the backcountry or chairlift accessed backcountry skiing & riding. In addition, the two-day Children’s Camp will tackle terrain and skills sets are base upon ability and snow conditions with a fun, safe learning environment and a team style atmosphere.
