Seefeld, AUT-With the 8th Air&Style Snowboard Contest just around the corner, the town of Seefeld is getting ready for the onslaught of boarders who will take over the area from December 8-10, 2000. This year the event will offer more of a “festival” atmosphere with non-stop parties, live music both indoors and outdoors and snowboarding in the resort area surrounding the Tyrolean town.

For those who haven’t been privy to see the Air&Style in past years, this is the largest big air contest in Europe and draws in top snowboarders from around the world. The fun atmosphere and the impressive 15,000 spectators, as well as the large purse, make this contest a favorite for riders. Like every year, the purse has once again been increased, with $50,000 US dollars and an Audi S 3 for first place in the straight air. The corner (aka hip) contest has a first place pot of $10,000 US dollars for guys and $5,000 for the female competitors.

After last year’s tragedy at the Air&Style it seemed like a good move to take the event to a fresh location and improve the happening with more music, action and the best part; snowboarding on the same day as the contest. In the Seefeld snowboarders can buy combination tickets allowing them to ride during the day and party with the Air& Style all afternoon and night. The new location also allows sponsors the chance to show off their goods and offer demos in the “Action Zone” located between the stadium and the center of town.

The list of straight jumpers is impressive this year with more new faces than ever.

A new location also means a new jump, so Tommy Marsh and his company Mellow Productions are working hard to build a new jump and the corner. This year instead of the traditional quarterpipe, the event will offer a corner (Euro version of a hip) with a left and right option. 18 men and 10 women will hit the corner and maybe even the Audi S 3 sitting on the flat top.

The music line-up kicks-off on the event stage with German superstars Guano Apes and then the American band 3 Doors Down headlining. Music will be present throughout the weekend though with the village stage in the center of town after the event throwing down bands like Outsidaz and Funf Stern. And at the Aftercontest party on December 9 Fatboy Slim will mix-it up, as well as many other DJs from around Europe until dawn.

Like past years, those who can’t make the Air&Style will be able to watch it at www.air-style.com and partake in internet voting on who they think will take home a shiny new Audi.
