Wrightwood, California—April 5, 2006: The region’s latest winter storm left Mountain High with 10 to 14 inches of new snow as of noon on Wednesday. Even more is possible before the system moves through making this the largest April storm in recent memory. 100% of Mountain High’s West Resort is now open with midwinter powder and packed powder conditions and resort operators are currently evaluating reopening the East Resort. With this much snow, the Wrightwood mountain expects to be open through the end of April if not into early May.
This new snow is just in time for Mountain High’s annual spring break celebration taking place this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each day is filled with contests, giveaways, live music, celebrity radio remotes and so much more. Events are free with a lift ticket and open to the general public. Helmets are required for Big Air and the Rail Jam. Children under the age of 18 must have a parent’s signature in order to participate.
Says Julie Kasper, past Spring Break participant, “This is the most fun I’ve had on the mountain. The air is warm. The snow is soft. And Pond Skimming is just the best.
