Hometown: West Dover, Vermont
Olympic Outlook: Kelly has claimed a record-setting 59 victories in major women’s pipe events since she started competing in 1999. Sochi will be her fourth time to the Olympics where she’s delivered two podium performances: gold at Salt Lake City in 2002 and bronze at Vancouver in 2010. In the past three seasons, she’s been on a roll, stacking up 13 wins in a row during the 2011/12 season. Right now she’s the only women with a 1080 in the pipe and she wants to be the first woman to do back-to-back 1080s.
Potential Downfall: Torah Bright continues to be a core shot in Kelly’s base that could slow down her gold medal hopes. Torah beat Kelly in Vancouver and although it had been a while since they last faced off, Torah bested Kelly again at the Dew Tour pipe this year.
