This board follows the footsteps of former Good Wood-winning TRS, but builds on its résumé by incorporating Banana technology. Plus, it’s layered in Golden Fleece fiberglass that’s 90 percent stronger than traditional fiberglass, which equates to a board that stays poppier, longer.

Tester feedback:

“This board is really fun for carving and slashing. It has really good pop and is super responsive.”

“Yay for the Banana—it makes everything more fun. Effortless snowboarding.”

Available sizes: 148, 151, 154, 157, 159, 162, 167

$539

Has anyone compared this board to a Skate Banana? I have last years Skate 159cm and wish it was a bit stiffer. On the LibTech site this board has the same flex as the skate. Can anyone tell the differences between the two?

  • Splifty Says:

On the LibTech site it says its a stiff TRS Banana. I have last years and I love it. Much stiffer that than the Skate (at least last years was)

I just got a TRS BTX after debating a skate banana but deciding that the skate banana might be too soft carving speedy around crud, other boarders/skiers, etc. (which I have to do at the small eastern hills I visit) - but I DID want the soft(er) tip and tail (by comparison to my old Dark Series) and for the board to be playful, press pretty easy, etc. So, anyway, just on carpet, it feels pretty promising - poppy but “pressy” if I can make up that word, I may get a chance to ride a skate banana and regret my choice but even the Mervin guy told me that unless I was all day in the park the TRS BTX would probably be better for me. If I can pick up a used skate banana cheap I might though. Good luck.

How come this board won top ten womens boards over $400?
I thought the TRS was a mens board.

  • Jim Says:

    It was a typo apparently.

So the TNT base is an extruded base, and if I’m not mistaken aren’t extruded bases slow? Does the banana tech compensate for it?

  • mandy Says:

libtech doesnt make woman specific boards so they compensate by creating their boards in sizes women can ride. So its not a typo they just make universal boards, not gender specific.
And technically the tnt base isnt extruded. But as a whole extruded bases tend to be slower, but really they are just a softer, less dense base that needs less upkeep but doesnt hold wax as well.

  • John Says:

Thanks Mandy, thats what I thought. I just figured that because Mervin makes Roxy that those boards would be like Lib Tech boards for woman. Anyway I bought the TRX BTX 57 and have like 6 days on it already and I love it. It rides like a big skateboard, holds an edge really well, and feels solid at high speed. I don’t know how it rides in powder yet but hopefully it I won’t have to wait too long for some of dat!

  • johnb Says:

Anyone ride the cygnus x-1 ? How does the cygnus compare to the TRS, Banana or Dark Series ? Anyone know some information on the cygnus’s base ? Sintered carbon base ? If anyone has ever ridden one please say a little bit about it.

  • RLB II Says:

I will never ride a regular camber board again. The banana tech is nasty and the MTX really holds an edge, great combo! Ride banana tech with MTX and you will love it. This board has took my riding and confidence to the next level. Lib Tech/Mervin Comp. is really doing a great job!

  • Tim Says:

amen! ‘regular’ camber is a thing of the past.

  • laxhockey302 Says:

i like riding alot of park. i want a board thats gonna get alot of pop off the lip, but still be able to sustain at high speeds. i dont really ride much powder over here on the east coast. would the trs btx or the skate banana be better?
