Billabong’s Flaunt It
About the event:
Billabong’s Flaunt It is an All-Girls Slopestyle & Rail Jam snowboard contest that is aimed at being fun, while providing over $10,000 in cash and prizes for the girls to vie for. There are four (5) events planned for Canada, with two events planned for the US. The events will be held:
Feb. 7th: Norquay, Alberta
Feb. 14th: USA (location TBD)
Feb. 21st: Blue Mountain, Ontario
Feb. 28th: Martock, Nova Scotia
March 7th: USA (location TBD)
March 14th: Big White, BC
March 28th (FINALS): Tremblant, Quebec
The first 5 events are qualifiers for the Series Finals which will be held at Tremblant. The winner from these events will have airfare and accommodation to the series finals at Tremblant paid for and organized by Billabong. Billabong has added a stop to both the Canadian and USA schedule from last year, and are hoping to continue building the series in the years to come.
Each contest is being designed with fun in mind and aimed at the local shredder to support the female snow community on a grassroots level. The contests will be slopestyle events in jam format so that everyone can have fun watching each other and not feel the dreaded ‘it’s now or never’ pressure in their runs. All riders will be allowed to do as many runs as they want, with the judges watching throughout the day to see who the strongest riders are. With fun being foremost, each event will be located at the bottom of the mountains, on a custom built park for the riders to Flaunt It. At the bottom of the slopestyle course will be a BBQ pit, where there will be a lunch time break with burgers available for all participants and spectators. Cash and Prizes will be given out based on best scores, best tricks, style, etc. at the Awards ceremony that will take place at the bottom of each hill.
Schedule For Each Event
- 8h-9h30 registration and warm-up
- 10h-1h Slopestyle Jam
- 1h-2h lunch break
- 2h-4h Rail Jam
- 4pm Awards
Registration is done online with a mini-site on Billabong.com/flauntit, only the first 30 entries will be accepted per stop with the exception of the series finals at Tremblant where 50 entries will be taken.
Billabong will be heavily marketing this event throughout retailers nationwide and various online promotions. There will be pre-registration parties at each location to kick-off the event with free t-shirts, food and drinks and a viewing of the Tara Dakides film “Against The Grain”.
