With all the winter trade shows this month and next–SIA, ISPO, Outdoor Retailer, Know Show, Parts & Labor, InterStyle, and others–we thought we’d give a preview of new gear dropping next season. This hot new boot from K2 Snowboarding won’t be available until late summer or fall, but we get stoked on innovations and we want to keep our readers in the loop.
A new high-end men’s boot model that you’ll likely see in most terrain parks next year, the K2 Renin was designed with soft flex and a focus on fluid style. It shares many features of K2’s top-selling Maysis boot, except the Renin offers extra leg mobility “for angulating your knee for surfy carving or for twerking out airs and grabs,” as K2 puts it. It won’t be so soft that you’ll be rolling ankles–it should actually hold the heel rather securely, thanks to K2’s new Boa Mobility Conda dial–but soft enough to offer maximum ankle flex in all directions. According to K2’s Global Brand Director Hunter Waldron, the intention is to help riders explore new ways of transmitting force to their edges.
Boa Mobility Conda – Solid heel hold with added ankle mobility
Endo 2.0 Construction – Long lasting, consistent flex and fit
Intuition Pro-Foam – Heat moldable custom fit
Vibram Pro-Lite Outsole – Legendary durability and grip
Each year, some companies add a product or two to their lines or give facelifts to several, while others release new technologies that could revolutionize the sport. Next week we’ll be at the SnowSports Industries America trade show in Denver and we’ll be dropping daily updates to highlight standout gear during the show, including Facebook Live episodes with Eddie Wall actually on the floor talking to designers, athletes, and brand managers. Be sure to check back often for more info on upcoming gear releases and industry news.
