LL Bean Traverse Soft Shell by Seth Wescott

LL Bean Traverse Soft-Shell Jacket

Everyone is down for their old flannel shirt. Problem’s that wind will cut through most of ‘em and if they get wet, you aren’t going to dry out anytime soon. This one from renowned Maine/USA brand LL Bean is made to hold up in piss poor weather and gorgeous sunny days alike. It was designed by two-time Olympic gold medal Boardercrosser, Mt Baker Banked Slalom winner, and Mainer Seth Wescott to hold up on the hill and then still look mellow enough to wear after boarding. It’s got mesh lining to wick away sweat, pit zips to air you out, and the wind-proof coating is ideal for boarding wicked fast or sitting on windy chairlifts. The other cool thing (goes for all LL Bean stuff for that matter) is that they make a big run of sizes and tall ones too. I’m really picky about stuff that’s too short, hate it, so even if you’re not necessarily a tall size you can get a proper fit with this. Right, they might not be a snowboard brand, but LL Bean’s Maine heritage, the ridiculous quality of their stuff, and their warranty program is so on point. Goes for $150 at LLBean.com. —JP
