Hot Snowboards, producers of alpine carving boards, is introducing 2 new models into their line: Wish, for extreme riding, and Shine, designed as a freecarve board. Returning to the line-up are the Blast for racing and high performance; the Logical, Hot’s signature asymmetrical board for freecarving; and the Spot for all around easy turning.
Hot constructs their boards using horizontal laminate wood cores which allow for torsional stiffness while preserving longitudinal flex qualities. Hot is also the only snowboard company to reinforce their sidewalls with a tip to tail strip of Birch hardwood, an ABS sidewall, and thin rubber strips, all which provide strength, extra shock absorption and dampening. This increases resistance to shock and adds strength to the edges. The quality of Hot snowboards has been extensively tested by top pro riders including Dieter Krassnig, Philippe Conte, and American Slalom and GS Champion, Sondra VonErt.
NEW FOR 1996-97
Wish is a combination alpine and freeride board for extreme riding off cliffs and in deep powder. It’s radical sidecut allows for small to medium radius carved turns on groomed runs or bulletproof windpack. The alpine flex of the Wish makes the board stable at high speeds, with no chatter. The combination of alpine flex and freeride shape, with its higher nose and rounded tail, makes the board versatile for all types of conditions. In addition, Wish can be ridden with either hard or soft boots.
Shine is HOT’s second new addition to the growing hardboot market. It is a performance board that can be ridden in powder, on groomed trails, or on icy headwalls. Shine has a long effective edge and is quick and responsive edge to edge. Its carbon fiber reinforced wood core ensures durability.
Blast is Hot’s high performance competition board, used extensively on the World Cup Circuit. It is narrow and light for performance in the gates. It has a light wood laminate Powerflex core, a graphite electra base, and 20 inserts which maximize stance options. Blast is available in a wide range of 5 lengths.
Logical represents one of the few boards in the world with an asymmetrical shape that makes it a very high performance carving board. Its back-side edge is offset 6cm and has a deeper sidecut and a longer overall edge length than its frontside edge. This combination of technology enables Logical to turn, grip and carve in any condition. It is also extremely quick edge to edge. Logical is Hot’s signature board and has been in the line longer than any other model.
Spot is an all around freecarve board that is perfect for beginning hard boot riders and the cross-over skier. Spot has a Finnish birchwood core with a soft flex which makes carving turns fun and easy to learn.
