How The Test Works

The test starts with each model of snowboard in three different sizes sent to the snowy slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado in mid-April for the weeklong test. We hire 23 expert testers to ride Breckenridge’s Park Lane park and the 2,400 vertical feet down Peak 8 testing each board on every type of feature and terrain available. The park boards are scored according to criteria including ollies/nollies, rail stability, buttering, flex, turning, and spinability—all-mountain is also scored in jumping and spinning, with an additional focus on high-speed stability and turning, and less focus on rails. Test forms are filled out, turned in, and computed.

  • kevilious Says:

was the capita ultra fk been tested?
    or even horrorscope?

  • browner Says:

i got the new DC board and the guy at sanction said its sick… so idk why it didnt get anything

  • nomi$ Says:

no capita boards. no dc boards. no stepchild boards BUt 3 burt0n boards in the top 10… hmm?

  • brian Says:

    weak soo weak….

  • snowboard=fun Says:

what the fuck, why are all these boards reverse camber? what if I want a camber board?

  • alex Says:

yo man some cambered boards are in the 400 and below. but this years good woods are weak. i mean i got nothing against burton but 3? come one there not that good. plus i know from personal experience with the burton boards that the est does not work its a smart idea but i had the jeremy jones last year and my binding always moved. dint have shit bindings either.

  • conspiracy? Says:

Actually, Forum is now owned by Burton…So techinacally Burton has 4 COUNT EM 4, snowboards in the top 10. thats just not right

  • Joe Says:

yeah, that is a little wierd. You gotta wonder how tey went from winning like one award last year to all of em this year.

  • Joe Says:

I have to say, i am definatly dissappointed in this years test. I liked the old days when the top sheets were all white, and nobody knew what they were riding until they all tallied the top picks. Burton is the Microsoft of Snowboarding, if you lose to a company one year, buy them out. Its getting to the point where I can't really take the good wood awards seriously anymore.

  • mathieu Says:

This test is some real bullshit. How can the tester be objective if they know what they are riding. Like joe said i liked the old days when the top sheets were blank. Burton was not on the top 10 with blank top sheet…. I cant really take the good wood award seriously now…..

  • lilikindsli Says:

AYexsp I want to say - thank you for this!

  • Conspiracy Says:

BULLLLLSHHHHHHIIITTTTT. this is crap, I mean four boards win an award…. They went from winning jack shit to winning four. I wouldn't be surprised if the Burton fellers pampered some of those riders for a more generous review. Or threatened their families.

  • Globals Says:

    all good things

  • wesee Says:

holy freakin sh^t , wack jello in a pantry full of beans.

  • Romase Says:

    site best

  • haters Says:

if you guys know better then the pros then why even follow the test. Burton has their hands in everyones pockets we all know that. But i guess hating is just cool these days eh

  • Conspiracy Says:

Haters, you need to pull burton's dick out of your mouth, I think people who ride like 30 days a season have just as good an opinion as the pro's, even complimentary, Its nice to hear one side of the argument from a pro, and the other side from the average rider. Besides Joe had a good point, if the decks where blank, and they still won all the awards there would be way less of a debate.

  • somedude Says:

Exactly what about est doesn't work????? I've been riding it awhile now and like everything else new, like reverse camber or whatever, you don't strap into it and become a better rider but it is the most comfortable setup i've owned in over 10 years. If your bindings were moving you probably aren't tightening them enough or checking them everytime you ride like a smart rider does. I will probably get shit on for writing this because I'm not keeping the hate alive here but I like my burton better than my rome, gnu and the nitro I have right now so deal with it haters….

  • breadface Says:

    meh
not hating but if you case or over shoot in est's they move
    not hating
    just a fact

  • netrah83 Says:

its because they finally got that new binding system on lock. the new burton boards are amazing, true flexes, poppy, light and fast.

  • netrah83 Says:

if your casing and overshooting jumps any bindings will move, loosen and fall apart/ break. because your not supposed to do it.

  • ianb Says:

reading these comments made my brain want to go to sleep. all these people hating on Burton is so lame. don't like Burton? then don't buy their product!. the reason Burton has so many boards in these categories is because they've been engineering and building boards in Vermont for longer than most companies combined. step child? so what! good riders, but I could honestly careless whether or not their product makes it on the good wood list. this whole "support us because we're just a small company trying to make our way" noise is for philanthropists and welfare case workers. when step child has the R&D resources that Burton does and puts out a space age stick, then they'll get a good wood acknowledgment. until then, I guess it's no dice.

What you need to realize is that even though Burton is a big evil corporation out to rape and pillage, they also have some of the top product, top riders, and they're ready to take your cheddar for it. So hurry up and buy. You know the gear is dank. Does it even matter to anyone that Jake Burton literally went door to door and worked his a** off to pioneer the sport? Well, if they fired Heiki, and JP leaves Forum, then I guess not.

volcom, dc, quik (owners of dc, mervin, and therefore… lib tech)… all publicly traded companies. as in the NYSE… that's NEW YORK STOCK EXCHANGE. Should you not support them because of this? Of course not. It's BUSINESS. That's it, that's all (ahem I mean red bull, quiksilver, ESPN… er… TRice)

The bottom line is that you can support who you want, just STFU already with the Burton hating. Heiki got dropped? WHO CARES!? Maybe Heiki was an a-hole when it came to doing his job. Ever think of that? Professional snowboarding is about doing a job. If you don't fill the role they company wants you to, you get fired. End of story. Nice guy or not. DCP… same thing. Mad respect, but for some reason he didn't fill the role at some point. Maybe it was out of the blue. Maybe it's because some loser with a Master's degree thinks he knows what's best for the Burton brand and made a stupid decision. Maybe DCP was too damn expensive to employ. Either way, it shouln't matter to you or me. Now DCP is on The North Face (I, for one, would think he’s better off on TNF and running his own board company). I guess you're going to say something bad about North Face now too?

The only thing I don't like about snowboarding are you little nothings constantly hating and talking smack. You’re taking all the fun out of the most fun activity to happen since blow jobs. Go play football or something. Besides, you’re riding bindings that are going to break apart after one season. Isn’t it getting expensive keeping it real?

    4 BOARDS! NO WAY! IT”S A CONSPIRACY!

  • arp Says:

k2 parkstar vs skate banana? opinions?

  • overshoot Says:

but its fun as shit to overshoot and you look like such a badass

  • Duhh!!! Says:

The parkstar is a camber board!

  • Duhh!!! Says:

    Ride DH2??? were is it???

  • snowboarder999 Says:

    what happened to atomic ?

  • Josh Says:

    no it's not

  • haters Says:

Conspiracy, seriously……. go put a uniform on and jock it up like ian suggested. That dude's point of view is legit . But i guess u cant hear me cus i have Burtons dick in my mouth. Right… a company i have not supported since my first deck 11 years ago. More then a decade without support but as soon as i raise a point against haters look who takes offence. Get out of snowboarding u arrogant fuck.

  • Whyme Says:

They are not allowing anymore comments on this topic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • READ URGENT Says:

TEST run to see if the word Burton will not be allowed to be posted on this site, I Shitty Bang wrote something a minute ago and it was deleted by administrator.

    SOS

  • Shittty BANK Says:

I am so not writing it out again.

Long story short cover the boards when being tested, skewd results, biased opinion and many other factors that contribute to true unbiased data.

  • Cjibster.FDP Says:

burtons gay its to over played…whats up on the capita boards?

  • Josh Says:

are you stupid the horrorscope got it under 400 genius

  • bacon Says:

FUCK TRANSWORLD. SNOWBOARDER. Why are you guys acting confused or like it's even a big deal when you know its just promotion???????????

  • bäm Says:

nitro rook isnt a reverse chamber board….

  • holyvood Says:

Why is everyone haters on the one big brand the promotes to people who arent in the sport? I used to be anti burton, until i got the chance to ride all of their equipment. It is quality, not just the same stamped elan factory crap like almost every other company.

  • Chronic Coffee Says:

As gay as Burton may be, they drop the most money out of any other company into their board technology, so none of you can really say they're shit. Maybe you guys just don't know how to ride. Like the people who say "Reverse Camber is a scam", it isn't a scam, the reason why it failed 10 years ago when it was introduced was because riding styles were completely different. People didn't know how to utilize the technology, and now that WE have it, we're killing it. So spend a few seasons in the mountains before running your mouths thinking you know whats up city boys.

  • Chronic Coffee Says:

you're full of shit, i rode the slider system when forum first came out with it, and i NEVER had any problems. the EST is the new and improved version, there's no way it got worse over the years. stop bein a pansy and tighten your hardware, you just gotta stop knuckling 10ft. tables you punter.

  • Guest Says:

    Hate Hate Hate Hate Hate

  • tdaballer Says:

no capita or DC? and why soooo much burton?

  • Guy Says:

It's amazing to see what we think are the best boards, sounds like everyone has a biased opinion. Just because you like a certain board company doesn't make it a great board, that's just like your parents choosing a ford over a chevy and so on and so on.

And I would love to see the amount of people who claim Burton is not legit turn down a ride from them. Stop worrying about the things you think are cool and just do the things you like to do. I would assume everyone who hates burton also hates; Nike, Apple, Audi's, McDonalds, and baggy pants since all of these things are a facade to "original" thinking.

    Go ride!

  • dick Says:

    hating burton is trendy nowadays.:):):)

  • vonklaussen Says:

Haters are justified…even though this is the snowboarding, its all about the dollars.
The rules are that you have to advertise in the magazine for your boards to even get tested.
Endeavor and option didn't even get tested. Pretty much all the small U.S. and Canadian companies got completely shafted. Now its fine that Burton is big and whatever, but if your so good why wouldn't you want your product to go up blind against any and everyone? And after not winning anything last year, why so much all of a sudden? And aren't you one of transworlds biggest advertising clients, if not the biggest? hmmmm fishy. One of the artists at endeavor snowboards works as a photographer for transworld. He was soo pissed when none of their boards were tested so he called and they told him sorry, but you have to buy advertising or we wont test your boards. Now You can Legitimately be Angry.

  • Top sheet covers??? Says:

I just read all these comments. Most of you are idiots. Covering the top sheets works for every board except Burton. They either have the 3-d hole pattern or the est system. Only Burton has these so they still knew when they were riding one back in the day. Think a little bit people.

  • DankBoarder Says:

    ha ha ha

  • casey Says:

ya but all those burtons really arnt that great ….unleas your sponserd by them and you can watch them make it or have them hand make it….they are too big of a company now thats why lib tch and never summer boardes are better the only reason the burtons got it is cause they took ther good boards and sent them.
