Current State: Snowboarding

Current State is compelling, it’s truthful, and it’s a must have for all of us that call snowboarding our pastime. The photography is on point, offering a historical aesthetic of the best and worst of snowboarding’s last thirty years. The design is clean and imaginative with a vertically connected two-book format, each portion can be read independently, but delivers an even a stronger story read together. It’s personal, but it taps in to a very real collective consciousness. David Benedek spent nearly three years working on this project, interviewing some of snowboarding’s greats; from Scotty Wittlake to Jake Burton, Travis Rice to Jed Anderson. Its design has received a Red Dot Design Award, won the Most Outstanding Print award from the German Art Directors Club (ADC), and is now nominated for the European ADC’s Best Book Designs of 2012.
