The wavy Magne-Traction edges are mellowed down for an easy-riding park board that will grip a quarterpipe wall, but not catch on a rail. You can dull the edges for jibbin’ and the Magne will still hold strong while carving off lips and blasting off the quarter.
Tester feedback:
“The Magne-Traction holds an edge so well it’s scary. I tried a pipe run and went so big I scared myself.”
“Amazing overall board. Presses on rails and stiff enough for jumps, Magne is the best snowboard invention in the past ten years. Euro carves have never been so easy.”
Available sizes: 150, 153, 156, 157W, 159, 161W, 164W
$399

The comment about this board laying down easy euro-carves intrigues me but I also want a board that will handle the pow for my planned trip to southeastern B.C. this winter. Unlike the Danny Kass Gnu model my other prospect, the Carbon Highbeam board doesn’t have rocker tech reverse camber but it’s more in my price range. I’m not really into Park/jibbing, So I’m wondering whether the Kass model would be worth the extra $$ for more versatility? Riders Choice BTX has rocker too but it didn’t get as high of ranking as the Kass Gnu. Any tester have a recommendation?

Purchased this board in February and rode it for 2 hours, had a phenominal time on this board, a lot of pop off of the tail, the magnetraction was indeed more subtle than the previous year CHB but unfortunately the board broke at the binding on a mild tail press…GNU was great in handling a warranty upgrade to an 09 altered Genetics

So,,,,How do you like the upgraded 09 Altered Genetics? I just got one but have not used it yet. I can’t wait.

Ive been riding the carbon high beams for about 10 years and just bought my third. Im an aggressive freerider who lives for speed, powder and drops. It can carve hard and float the fluff. still handles pretty good in the park too if yer into that.
