Big Volcom Weekend, nowhere near the snow this time. They had a party with bands in Costa Mesa on Friday night. One of Volcom’s founders, Troy Eckert is moving to Hawai’i. So, they sent him off by hosting a blowout at the Detroit Bar with Earthless, Road to Alaska, and new group called Philm which features Dave Lombardo of Slayer on drums. So loud it was sorta sickening. Raging. Lots of Volcom dudes were there of course. Don Szabo was even there. No sign of Gigi, though. It was a loud night.
Then on Sunday, met some of the boys at the Memorial skatepark in San Diego. Jake Duncombe was among them. He flung himself around a bit, but then settled into some Coors Lights citing a heavy few days in Vegas that wrecked him. After a few minutes skating, he was all,
“This thing feels weird!”
“What, the bowl?” someone asked.
“No, riding this skateboard.”
Then he showed me some of the most jacked tattoos I’ve ever seen. Seriously.

Jake said the critter with the dude coming out of his butt doing the handplant was an Eggfartplant or something. Dude rules.
