Superstar DJs aren’t just foreign in background to most people. The mystery, lifestyle, attraction, and ‘world behind the curtain’ are so far out of the consciousness of the nation, there’s barely a blip on the radar when the world’s best come to town. In Canada, Europe, South America, Asia, etc (hell; anywhere outside the USA), these men and women are celebrities and music gods. Just pop in any Euro snowboard film from the last ten years, and prepare to see the light(s…).
ATB (André Tanneberger) has been considered one of the world’ most influential and infamous DJ’s for over a decade. In 2009, DJ Magazine, the leading international electronic music publication, even ranked him at #11 on the World’s Best DJ list. Taking a few nights off from his landmark residency in Vegas this summer, his smaller, more involved SoCal shows were loud, relentless, and full of energy for the sold-out crowds. Mixing hip-hop with house, and utilizing every sensory distraction possible (think: go-go dancers, fire displays, massive clouds, lights, etc), the trance was brilliantly put on show.
