Telluride’s Revelation Bowl Lift Towers Are Up

PHOTO: Ben Eng

TELLURIDE, Colo. (October 2, 2008) – After months of digging, building foundation forms, heli-porting in the cement and setting anchor bolts into concrete foundations, the day came to bring in the towers. At 9:23 am on Wednesday, October 1, the K-MAX helicopter came swooping over the Gold Hill ridge with tower number 8 of the new Revelation Lift. Within 15 minutes, the tower with its cross bar and two sheave assemblies was in place after four trips by the K-MAX. By 1:45 pm that same day, all eight towers were in place and awaiting the cable to be strung and chairs to be hung for operation.

“It’s really amazing how quickly the towers go up,” said Vice President of Operations Jeff Proteau. “You go through months of preparing the site for the massive undertaking of a new lift and then in half a day’s time, all the towers are up and ready to go.”

The Telluride Ski Resort is on schedule for the opening of Revelation Lift. The lift is being built in conjunction with the opening of the new Revelation Bowl for the 2008-09 ski season. Situated on the spectacular east side of Gold Hill, Revelation Bowl boasts wide-open skiing with spectacular views of the Bear Creek Basin, 13,446 foot San Joaquin Ridge and13,555 foot Wasatch Mountain and it’s dramatic cliffs. The Bear Creek Overlook observation deck has also been constructed at the base of the bowl for rest and relaxation with a stunning view of the Telluride valley.

“With the opening of Revelation Bowl, Telluride has again set itself apart as one of the premiere ski destinations,” said CEO Dave Riley. “What we offer for inbounds terrain, including Prospect Bowl, Palmyra Peak , and now Revelation Bowl, would be hard to find anywhere else in North America.

The opening of Revelation Bowl is just part of Telluride’s incredible expansion this year including the opening of public hike-to access to Black Iron Bowl, Palmyra Peak and Gold Hill Chutes 6-10. All told, the resort has expanded by nearly 400 acres, offering some of the most stunning skiing and riding on the continent. The resort’s vertical drop is now one of the largest in North America at 4,425 feet, with 3,845 vertical feet lift-served.  Visit Revalation Bowl and Telluride resort for more details.

That’s It, That’s All Storms Portland and Seattle 10/10 & 10/11

The Season’s Most Anticipated Snowboard Film Storms the Northwest October 10th and 11th
Pro Snowboarder Travis Rice Pioneers New Tricks and Technology In “That’s It, That’s All.”

Jackson, WY (September 30, 2008) – “That’s It. That’s All,” the groundbreaking snowboard film produced by Brain Farm arrives at the Roseway Theater in Portland on Friday, October 10th and King Cat Theater in Seattle on Saturday, October 11th. Travis Rice invites the northwest to join in the epic ride, as he and a dream team crew set out to find the new zones, tricks and a whole new perspective on snowboarding.

“’That’s It, That’s All.’ is epic snowboarding meets Planet Earth,” explains Curt Morgan, President of Brain Farm. “The film is a visually stimulating piece of work that pulls in a wider audience by encompassing the most progressive riding in the world with unbelievable travel and nature footage.”

In an attempt to push the progression of action sports films, “That’s It, That’s All.” raises the bar on both the level of athleticism and quality of production. For two years, producers Rice and Morgan traveled the world in search of conditions that capture the essence of snowboarding. This quest took the riders to New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Canada, Valdez, AK, Jackson Hole, WY and Mammoth, CA. Using the features found in these locations, Rice began inventing new tricks including the first landing of a double backside rodeo 1080 (spinning three times, while going through 2 inversions).

“We put everything we humanly could into the production of this film,” said Travis Rice, pro Snowboarder and Co-Owner of Brain Farm. “Quiksilver and Red Bull stepped up to help us match top caliber riding with the highest possible production quality. Our hope is to showcase snowboarding in a whole new light.”

The Adventures Of Danny And The Dingo Premieres

Grenade gets real with “The Adventures Of Danny And The Dingo”

New Fuel TV reality show roadtrips across America with the infamous Grenerds

PORTLAND, OREGON—September 29, 2008—Grenade President and two-time Olympic Silver Medalist Snowboarder Danny Kass and his sidekick, snowboarding personality The Dingo, are bringing their wild times into living rooms across America. Their new reality show, “The Adventures of Danny and The Dingo” debuts this week on the Fuel TV network.  The show chronicles the best friends’ antics on and off the slopes as they compete in major competitions and search for the next great undiscovered rider on the Grenade Strikes Back Series.

“The Adventures of Danny and The Dingo” features world-class snowboarding teamed with madness.  The eight episode series takes fans into the world of professional snowboarding, and gives talented amateurs a chance to compete in front of the pros for a shot at a big-time prize and industry recognition.

“So many crazy things happen behind the scenes, we just want to make sure fans get to be a part of it,” says the show’s co-star, The Dingo.  “Some of the skateboarders have done that, with shows like ‘Viva La Bam’.  But so far, snowboarding hasn’t really been promoted in the same way, on a mass media level.  We want this show to do that for the sport.”

The series begins at the X Games, as Danny, The Dingo and the rest of the Grenade crew cram themselves into a 30’ RV for the “Grenade Strikes Back” Tour.  They head for the mountains in search of riders, inviting only the freshest talent to compete in the Grenade Games.  When they’re not on their boards, the team manages to get into all kinds of trouble. Cameras are rolling as they drive a hotel manager over the edge, attempt to eat nothing but frozen pizza rolls, and play a practical joke with a permanent punch line at the tattoo parlor. The season finale wraps up at the Grenade Games, as the team judges the finalists they met on the road and awards the winner with a spot on the Grenade Team and his own signature piece of Grenade gloves.

The first season of “The Adventures of Danny and The Dingo” premieres Tuesday, September 30th on Fuel TV.  Season two is already in production.  Please check your local listings for exact times, and visit the Fuel TV website and GrenadeGloves for more details.
