Mann.. i didn’t realize big bear had avalanches.

  • theone Says:

I would rather get back country advice from Donnie Stevens…

  • kevin Says:

this is just a giant advertisement

  • yehh Says:

thank god he always carried the 1959 burton snowboard with the rope attached to the nose i can never go back country without that kind of snowboard anymore, that also “is a must”

  • penis in your pooper Says:

welp… this is impossibly expensive. its easy to keep it cheep and only go out with 5$ rentals of snowshoes, probes, beacons, and shovels. money sucks..

  • pk Says:

you’re a douche. of course you wouldnt know about snow and avalanches only riding at big bears groomed terrain park. probably for the best, more pow for me

  • Jon the salmonella snack Says:

Nah he is on the right track, that dude would probably lose that beacon if he got into an avalanche. it should be worn right on top of your base layers in a harness, not in a jacket pocket.

  • Birdrider Says:

Yeah, I bet that whole kit is up wards of 20,000$. Jesus. How the fuck could you even compete with that. This sport is becoming more and more about how rich your parents are.

  • laughing at you Says:

Dont worry kids. None of you will every need any of this stuff. Terrian parks only require shit for brains.

  • garf Says:

its a brand new board ment to look OG, and if you havnt clued in noboarding is the bomb, you just cant turn with out binders can you. dont worry in a few years kids will get board and take no boards to the streets, bindings are the worst trend in snowboards

  • carlinoj Says:

This video was created to give kids who are interested in riding or filming in the backcountry an idea of what they need. Yes, you dont NEED everything there, but as a filmer, looking out for the riders is our job. Hopefully someone will take this video in a positive way and help them be more prepared for backcountry travel.

  • dude Says:

dude garf your an idiot. without binders snowboarding wouldnt be snowboarding. if u think they’re such a bad trend then go to walmart and buy a snerfer dumb ass.

  • Agreed Says:

with a gnarly year like this one, kids need to know what they need out there if they are planing on going into the backcountry. Too many times kids are killed by avalanches because they wonder into the backcountry unprepared. Not really a laughing matter

  • NZ Says:

Cheers Joe, very insightful. I think lunch is key. Going out back without a feed sucks.

  • leonard Says:

    sweet set up joe

  • i guess you don't get it Says:

I think most people that read these boards are no where close to need any of this gear. Most people here are park rats and never have stepped foot in the bc, not even slackcountry. Sorry but it’s true.

  • fuk. Says:

Those things are needed for “true backcountry” where you are not at a resort. At mountain resorts i go out and do backcountry riding with some friends and maybe a shovel. At mountain resorts they have to keep the designated backcountry area safe so they will blast for avalanches or close off the backcountry gates when it isn’t safe. so unless you are doing “true backcountry” riding then you won’t need any of this fancy stuff.

  • JBeats Says:

    legit saftey.

  • Jonny Says:

Agreed you dont need every thing you talked about . We all know you had to make this video to justify getting all that gear for free. Dah. But i would argue if looking out for the riders is a goal then trade that SPOT in for a Sat Phone. You can let 911 know the severity of the injury.

  • CarlCares Says:

Just what we need, another rail filmer in the backcountry.

  • bret Says:

no crap, transworld vid, transworld.com… they would be stupit not to

  • yeah... you got it Says:

Rail filmer in the bc… Too funny. Listen kids stick to the park with your 151 boards 24 inch stance, go into the lodge for lunch and have your mommy pick you up at 4 sharp. All the sudden the bc is cool when it always was what snow ridin is about. I hate mainstream bro and this website.

  • blake Says:

it’s spelled donny… and you would probably end up dying

  • ro Says:

good kit man, but wheres your matches and flashlight! i wish i had a GPS, compass, and satellite phone. almost spent the night in a snowcave in sicamous last season

  • Jreal30 Says:

well think about it. alot of that stuff most people already have. goggles, water bottles, masks, shovels, etc. and then you dont really need any of that camera stuff. That probably makes up more than half of his kit anyways.

  • Ondo Says:

I would disagree as a filmer it is our job to look out for the riders. We need to be a team out there with the riders making the final decisions. All the filmer is is supprt for a day that should be happening regardless of cameras. Stoked on the little vid, Thanks.

  • um Says:

cole is right, you are clueless. most places DO NOT do anything to “keep the backcountry safe” except for occasionally closing the gates when danger is really high. otherwise, it would just be in-bounds riding that required hiking, not backcountry at all. i’ve seen so many slides right next to resorts, but in the backcountry. and, a shovel is worthless for digging people out without a tranciever so you can find them.

  • fuk. Says:

I know what you mean but the mountains i ride at all blast cornices and close the gates when there is any risk of an avalanche. the ski patrol test the snow consistently so in my mind if you abide by the rules and only go into the backcountry when the gates are open then you won’t need any of that stuff. maybe the mountains in washington are different then elsewhere.

  • ben Says:

    wow. bad idea.
