Billabong’s Flaunt It Waterville Valley Results

Waterville Valley, NH, March 3, 2009- Waterville Valley hosted the 4th stop of the Billabong Flaunt It girls only Slopestyle & Rail Jam series on Sunday, March 1.Thirty of New England’s finest female shredders came out to Waterville’s Exhibition Terrain Park to ‘Flaunt It’.

A morning slopestyle, slopeside BBQ lunch and an afternoon rail jam with a ton of product from event sponsors Billabong, Dakine and Von Zipper summed up the day’s festivites.

The standout in slopestyle was none other than Waterville Valley’s own Snowsports Coach Elin Tortorice. Elin wowed judges all morning stomping her winning run where she threw down a cab 180 to a back 3 into frontside 3 and then top it off on the rail section with a boardslide and a nosepress. “The conditions were firm but fun,” said Tortorice, “On my second to last run I stuck everything which included a front 3 and a back 3.” Along with $600 in prize money and product from event sponsors Dakine, VonZipper and Billabong, Elin also earned entrance, airfare and accommodations courtesy of Billabong into the Flaunt It Finals to be held March 28 at Mont Tremblant, Quebec.

Laura Rogoski, Amber Marsh, and Taylor Owen showed off multiple eye catching tricks during the Rail Jam and were rewarded with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively. Keep 11-year-old Ty Walker on your radar, this young gun from Stowe, Vermont pulled out a 540 for the judges taking away the prize for Best Trick. The best thing about snowboarding according to Ty is, “Being in the air and not having to worry about anything but just like landing the trick and riding away clean. I had a great time.”

So, I am pretty shocked that a coach came out and did the contest and beat the other girls. Does anybody else think that’s kinda weird? Obviously, a coach is going to beat the riders lol
