Every sled in Svalbard has a gun rack. Its the law: leave town and you have to carry a gun because of the polar bear risk. While the residents of Montana might see this as normal, it comes as a little eye-opener to a Brit on the expedition.

The story, written and shot by Dan Milner, features Terje Haakonsen and Jeremy Jones shredding a chain of islands on the far Northern reaches of a Norway, only 700 miles from the North Pole. Polar bears are a real threat as is the remoteness. Part of the two-year splitboard film project Further, the crew tackles massive 2,000-foot long, 50-degree couloirs and returns to tell about it.
