Christy Chaloux is a bad-ass. As Transworld’s first-ever female staff photographer, she wages war in this man’s world with a sled, an over-stuffed duffel, and an arsenal of camera lenses. Contrary to popular belief, being a woman photographer doesn’t mean just shooting the ladies. Christy shoots whatever’s in front of her, claiming her goal in photography as simply, “To tell the story.” However, one of her main assignments around here is definitely helping us do justice to women’s riding in the pages of the mag. With that said, Christy chatted me up this morning from Nelson, B.C., where she’s been sampling a little New Year’s blower at Baldface Lodge with the Standard Films female contingent—Kimmy Fasani, Hana Beaman, and Leanne Pelosi. Here’s what she had to say.

my first time to baldface, rode the best pow of my life, unfortunately mostly with a camera bag, haha

a little of both, since it’s early season a lot of the features at Baldface aren’t filled in so the girls did some cliffs and pow lines, but it’s like there first pow so they where a little loose you know

like, it’s january, it should be deep somewheres, right?
anyway, how’s the winter been going so far?
what have you been up to?
winter has been so fun, I was in Colorado for two weeks during the Dew Tour and Grand Prix and took two trips to southern colorado in between the events.
the snow down south was deep and fun, pretty sunny too.
nothing new since I sent you those previews from the trip with Chad [Otterstrom].
but I was really happy with that trip, it was productive.

no! have you been?
yes, it’s soooo much fun. foam pits trampolines and a pretty fun skate set up, but pretty slippery.
I skated there when Freddie Austbo was there and he was efffing ripping.
it was cool to watch.
but i was on a borrowed board with leannes shoes so it was interesting, but I definitely want to go back to skate more.
