Ashbury at Bear Mountain

Met up with those Ashbury bros at Bear on last week. A bunch of ‘em rolled down to So Cal to get some before the Ashbury demo at Bear. It was a real Spring Break 09 vibe. We all flopped at Desiree Melancon’s place. Felt like a gypsy camp, every one living out of their respective board bags. All of which eventually exploded, pouring plaid and paisley-patterned fabrics everywhere.
The living was easy. Up late-ish, to let it soften up, eat, maybe skate some flatground, try to stretch, try to get everyone going at the same time, pile into cars, head to the mountain, and then hot-lap ’till the legs went. It was hot and sunny all day. Typical Bear: more features than you can keep up with and gangs of fools following each other at break neck speeds down the mountain.
And with almost everyone armed with a digi-cam there was a lot of blogging going on.

If everyone wore the same shit on the hill, we’d all look alike and that would be super lame! Personally, I would be fucking pissed everyone dressed the exact same as me! Everyone on this site acts like they’re the shit and they rip on a board, but I bet most of you pussies suck ass…especially the ones that are constantly hating! the other day i was ripping my local resort and this kid was sitting down waiting at the top of the park and he was wearing tight as fuck black jeans. looking ridiculous. There was a large group of people around us and i said that is the worst snowboarding style i have ever seen behind him. He was the only one in the entire group of random shredders to turn around to see who said it and that’s how i know that the street gypsy shredders are fucking homos.

whatever floats your pant boats is all good with me. my problem for example was when I lived at Mt hood 5 years ago, a kid from team thunder in utah came to visit. he had baggy pants and a bubble jacket. he is a very good rider by the way. well now he rides skin tight girl pants and v neck shirts. why? obviously a poser or just confused. i found out what i liked years ago and have stuck with it. my clothes dont change, along with my music and friends. in the end, you can be the best shredder on the hill and still be a effin poser. lame.

lol idk about the history of tight pants on the slopes, none of my friends really care about the whole baggy vs tight pant b/s, we rock what we can afford….like i’ve got a pair of xl planet earth’s from 03 that i got at a pawn shop for 20 bucks….im not a fan of huge and baggy but a good pair of snowboarding pants that’s lasted me about 4 years for 20 bucks is a deal in my eyes….and they’re really comfy to boot
i’ve heard wearing tight shit when you skate helps you keep better control of your legs and feet, how that works i really don’t know maybe it applies to riding as well….as far as im concerned go with whatever works for you, whatevers comfy….whoever worries about what other people are wearing is probably insecure about themselves and is probably one of those people who dress to impress even if they don’t exactly like what they’re wearing

Damn! look at all the attention ashbury is getting.. they do a demo and the haters come out of the closet, and so do the fans.. it’s like a war.. sounds like a successful situation for them though. I had a kid come into my local shop and buy every color of ashbury goggles. In my opinion, they just have the coolest team in snowboarding, and the goggles are good, so I buy the stuff.
