torstein is GAME!
January 11th, 2009 at 11:39 am
what was that spin that shaun did was that more then a 1080?
January 11th, 2009 at 11:57 am
he threw 1260 on the last hit….horgmo threw a switch 12
January 11th, 2009 at 11:59 am
horgmo deserved that win….shaun sketched out a bit on his landing for the 12 even tho the bs rodeo off the boxjam was sick cause you rarely see white doing rodeos in comps
January 11th, 2009 at 12:17 pm
no one deserved to win with those meat helicopters. the girls runs were easier to watch that the spin to win fest in the mens. it’s just not fun to watch anymore.
January 11th, 2009 at 12:23 pm
I completely agree
January 11th, 2009 at 12:24 pm
i agree….i enjoy watching the girls more than the guys sometimes…..i just wish the girls would stop doing 3’s and start doing more 5’s and 7’s
January 11th, 2009 at 12:58 pm
Andreas killed White imo
January 11th, 2009 at 1:01 pm
what coat is torstein wearing
January 11th, 2009 at 2:57 pm
a lame DC coat
January 11th, 2009 at 3:22 pm
You all suck!
Never spin more than 900.
More Style Less Spin-to-win.
Never ever agree with me!!
January 11th, 2009 at 3:33 pm
just cus you guys cant do more than a 3 doesnt mean the pro’s shouldn’t.
January 11th, 2009 at 4:18 pm
it gets old when you see the same shit in contests…..a whole bunch of riders spinning so fast you can’t even tell what they’re doing….snowboarding is half tricks and half style….style is the creative end and contests should reflect riders creativity….thats why railjams are so popular cause something new is gonna go down each time
i also believe that having a contest revolve around what tricks go down off a 60 footer isn’t the way to go either….its slopestyle not big air there should be more unique features and more emphasis on rail skills for these big park riders….and more unique rails and setups also….its either a battleship, a flat bar of some short distance or some downrail….eachtime i see these contest reviews i feel like im watching a replay of the last 4 years of snowboarding contests….nothing’s changed since white threw down 4 900’s in a row at the honda session some 4 years ago and its time that shit stopped
January 11th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
and start riding naked and moaning
January 11th, 2009 at 4:36 pm
true
January 11th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Nothing new ever happens in rail jams, the reason they are so popular is because people like you think you’re the cat’s ass cuz you can do front blunt 270s
January 11th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
yeah step down shaun white you little bitch tortstein owns your shit!!!
January 11th, 2009 at 5:11 pm
Jesus Christ Torstein is good. Thats sick shaun white did a back rodeo. I didnt think he had that in the bag, even tho it was only a 5. the girls suck. step it up past 360s that’s sad
January 11th, 2009 at 5:12 pm
no shaun threw cab 12 torstein threw a switch back 12
January 11th, 2009 at 5:16 pm
you cant hate on the progression of the sport and think that cause you cant do shit doesnt mean the riders that can shouldnt
January 11th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
thats a bad opinion. These guys are throwing down 12’s because they can all do 9’s with their eyes closed. It would be impossible to determine a winner. Plus they are doing it with good as good of style as you can have while spinning like a dradle. They’re all holding their grab on the spins and contests today have way more intense runs then they did 4 years ago.
I agree with u that battle ship boxes and flat rails are retarded in slopestyle. If riders are going to be judged on rails and jumps then they should have down rails, dfd rails, (more technical features.) They could put them in at the end so riders can keep their speed through the run. That way if riders throw a pretty equal run, the rails could help determine the winner. new shit doesnt go down in rail jams and it sounds like you’re suggesting turning a slopestyle contest into a rail jam, which ruins the whole idea of slopestyle.
January 11th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
i second that
January 11th, 2009 at 6:22 pm
i was on the double next to the canon box when shawn did the frontboard to back rodeo. i hate him but he diserved to win
January 11th, 2009 at 6:26 pm
white shouldnt be allowed out in the daylight, hes a ginger
January 11th, 2009 at 6:32 pm
3 things to make slopestyle more fun to watch cause if i had to pick i’d rather watch a railjam than a slopestyle comp and that’s kinda sad
1: make rails a little bit more important and put some more technical rails in the mix more often….they’re lucky if they get something other than a battleship, down bar or flat bar once a year and thats generally at the x-games….so more of that
2: enough with 4 step downs in a row….thats boring to watch….throw some hips in there or even some large step-ups make the shit more interesting to watch
3: no more spin to win…..make riders change up their runs each run they take which means any trick over a 9 shouldn’t be duplicated etc etc….it’ll be more challenging for the riders (who are more than capable of adjusting) and more interesting for the viewers in front of a tv or at the event
thats what im looking for
January 11th, 2009 at 6:45 pm
was whites rodeo off that box?
January 11th, 2009 at 7:27 pm
yeah shit looks dumb and boring as hell to watch it all looks the exact same after seeing 3 runs….
January 11th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
sure was
January 11th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
just cause white did a rodeo off a box doesn’t mean he “deserved” to win….you can’t expect to win when you land and sketch out and the guy next to you is throwing a harder version of the same trick and landing it perfectly
January 11th, 2009 at 7:43 pm
im happy they are leaving my mtn, closed the double to the big park on thurs for this crap and mad people at the base made it impossible to get to the quad lift, get the fuck outta the way people still ride the parks wen this shit is goin on
January 11th, 2009 at 7:46 pm
all everybody did on the first flat rail was tailslide 270 out every run, one kid from nh did 180 on 360 off but he fell on his jumps; every person just does the same exact 2 runs w/ maybe an extra spin at the bottom if they need to, mix it up
January 11th, 2009 at 8:14 pm
The Empire Shakedown has the Contest for down pat… Just make that 4 to 5 times bigger…
January 11th, 2009 at 9:35 pm
The Amateur Wins
amounts the Pros
blah……..
can’t believe Horgmo
still isn’t pro
WTF.
January 11th, 2009 at 10:30 pm
What do you mean not pro he just killed against the most popular name in snowboarding, thats good enough for me
January 11th, 2009 at 10:57 pm
I give the riders credit for what they do. They are generic riders they do what win contest and that is spin to win. but i still give them probs just not my thing i am a filming rider
January 12th, 2009 at 12:23 am
I love this discussion. Man I think everyone on this board has a few good ideas. I couldn’t agree with you more, I would really like to see a more well rounded group of riders. What I mean is the jumps and spins are crazy and in my opinoin very stylish (I like Wiig the most). But the rails are simple. Like rails in a slopestyle comp is just filler. We need a Slopestyle comp at Bear mtn with a few killer rail setups and some nice kickers. I wouls love to see Shaun White Vs Simon Chamberlain. After all is said and done, I think we all can agree on one something, slopstyle comps need a change.
January 12th, 2009 at 2:18 am
that was a tiny jump for a pro contest.
January 12th, 2009 at 7:01 am
homogenized park riding is getting old. Its not the riders fault though. The setup for these contests dictate what goes down. They need more multi use jib features which would allow more creativity. Have more than one kind of jump, like a 100 foot plus step up so spins look smooth not like ballerina-skier.
January 12th, 2009 at 8:42 am
NORWEGIAN POWER!!!!
January 12th, 2009 at 9:07 am
thirded
January 12th, 2009 at 11:26 am
cab 12 is a switch 12
January 12th, 2009 at 11:52 am
cab is switch frontside
January 12th, 2009 at 11:53 am
not pro meaning he doesn’t have a signature board
but if you’re winning pro contests….then you’re a pro
January 12th, 2009 at 1:54 pm
what happened to the slopestyle contests? this is like freakin big air!
January 12th, 2009 at 2:12 pm
i am a girl, and honestly, it made me sad to watch this. 360’s to win??? are you kidding me? i can do those!! i mean i want to at least be a little bit inspired. that was lame, not to take anything away from the riders, but step up your game for real.
January 12th, 2009 at 3:07 pm
what the fuck is with almost everyone opting out of the cannon box? i mean 3 jumps on a slopestlye course isn’t enough??? fucking grow some balls and do your tricks on the end of a wide ass box, i don’t care what trick your throwing off it, it’s like some gaper hitting the take-off to a rail as a jump
January 12th, 2009 at 4:12 pm
agreed. there are some real talented females in snowboarding, but not in this vid. its unfortunate that they are referred to as pros. those women may be holding back womens snowboarding, and it stupid. plus they all bitch about each other and but the blame on other female pros. 3s are sick, but should not win you a comp, especially when every other rider in that heat is also throwing them. horgmo is a beast
January 12th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Torstein makes even a 12 on a small jump look good
January 12th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
cab is switch backside
January 12th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
^ You’re retarded cab is switch frontside
January 12th, 2009 at 6:53 pm
ohhhh ok I gotcha my bad
January 12th, 2009 at 7:54 pm
Agree, shauns 12 looked hucked as shit. Torstein actually had some style to his, plus he stomped it perfect.
I miss watching MFR in comps. She can seriously throw down compared to these chicks. Check her part in Rome’s Any Means. Switch back 7 and front(if i remember, may be cab) 9, both stomped perfect. These chicks need to step their shit up, maybe it’s cause mfr rides mostly with guys?
January 12th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
you’re an idiot
January 12th, 2009 at 9:21 pm
i think they should have a comp where u cant spin more than a 7 and they should have more comps like natural selection that was sick to watch
January 12th, 2009 at 9:57 pm
i am the cats ass cause you can’t do front blunt 270’s
January 12th, 2009 at 9:58 pm
at least we don’t have a silver spoon shoved up our butt like you do
January 13th, 2009 at 12:14 am
Who told you cab was switch backside. your an idiot.
January 13th, 2009 at 12:20 am
Tortstiens 12 was not only huge but stylish. i’d like to see you do a back 5 that stylish. your an idiot. slope is who can put together a run with good flow, style, and big tricks. rail jams are sweet but slopes where its at.
January 13th, 2009 at 12:22 am
you all want to see more rails because you cant jump and you dont realize how hard it is put all of it together. GO HIT JUMPS
January 13th, 2009 at 10:19 am
i can throw back and front 9’s thank you….rails require more skills than jumps and i have no intention of going for 12’s or 14’s cause i like doing shit with style….not spin to win….so instead i work on mixing up my spins with different grabs and seeing how far i can tweak them out
January 13th, 2009 at 10:20 am
most of them can actually you idiot
January 13th, 2009 at 11:50 am
wow…if any of you were actually there you would know that the girls were throwing down….actually sladics threw a back 7..and most of them were throwing 5s and even anderson spun off that canon box. before you start ragging on girls, get your facts straight.
January 13th, 2009 at 11:55 am
shaun didnt deserve to win..that rodeo off the box was sick…but..he put his ass down on the cab 12…overall his run wasnt as clean as torsteins and thats why he lost by like…0.3 points.
January 13th, 2009 at 1:29 pm
I think they should have to spin 1080 onto rails.
January 13th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
i wish they would show the good stuff then. nobodys ragging on girls, just that they want girls to push it more in contests. how was anyone supposed to know that 7’s were going down if they werent at the comp?
January 13th, 2009 at 3:04 pm
word to that. I know that the girls are so much better than what was shown in this vid, i just wish they would show it. no hate to the ladies at all, but i want progression please
January 13th, 2009 at 3:05 pm
i know!!! vid sucks balls for that
January 13th, 2009 at 6:41 pm
they only want to show the winning runs….and i find it hard to believe girls were throwing cab 5’s and 7’s and that a couple of 3’s won the contest
January 13th, 2009 at 9:47 pm
they were at the comp..just not in the three runs they decided to show…the thing is a lot of the girls who werent in top three were throwing them down, but fell on random stuff or werent as consistent so they didnt win, which is why their runs weren’t shown. stupid politics..they should show all the runs.
January 13th, 2009 at 9:51 pm
go ahead and watch it on tv…or ask the girls themselves if u ever see them. i was radioing scores from the announcers tower, and i saw it with my own two eyes. i ride myself competatively and i know what a 7 looks like, i can count spins. those girls that were throwing them were stepping it up and fell on other stuff in their runs because they were pushing themselves, not being pussies and throwing 3s which are easy for them. thats one thing i hate about contests cuz u can win throwing easier tricks as long as you are clean 100% of the time…the girls throwing 7s and cab 5s and everything else they did tried to go big their whole runs, so they blew it on some things. watch mfr in any means, ull see what i mean. she was there at the dew tour throwing down, but just didnt have jamies consistency.
January 14th, 2009 at 12:18 pm
Horgmo is pro, if you haven’t noticed there are tons of pro’s without a pro model, do you want his pro model or do you want to suck his dick, get a life and get your own style.
January 14th, 2009 at 3:57 pm
seriously man? these guys are makin good points. but yeah i agree, mount snow improved because of the canon box and the Nike rail, but flat boxes/battleship boxes are pointless. the only thing is, its kind of hard to judge style, cause everyone has a different opinion. you could have mikkel bang throw down a stylish run, and then have torstein do the same one, and it would look completely different. Thats why filming is better for snowboarding. dont get me wrong, i think contests are big, and in a sense take more skill and talent to do, but seriously who cares what a couple judges think, it should be up to the fans.
January 14th, 2009 at 4:08 pm
i thought cab was just switch in general
January 14th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
jumps over jibs any day
January 14th, 2009 at 6:10 pm
fuck shaun white.. fuck torstein horgmo. and fuck contest spin to win pussies
January 16th, 2009 at 12:24 am
i think adnreas should have beat shaun white that landing was fucking ridiculous how can you get second landing on your back?
February 2nd, 2009 at 9:41 pm
I think the fact that everyone is now throwing huge, stylish 10’s and 12’s is why Shaun shouldn’t win anymore. You see him put down a 12 and he looks like spinning for his life. He has trouble getting them around and he always does the same grab with those big spins. You got guys like Torstein, Mikkel Bang, Scotty Lago, and others who can stomp big spins with style and different grabs each time. Not to mention they start to cork out those tricks, like Andreas, which i haven’t seen Shaun do. Sure
Shaun does technical runs but the other riders are going bigger, with more style, and are innovating tricks. Shaun better catch up.

Dan Brisse is the Man.
