Government Camp, Oregon – December 30, 2008 – Mt. Hood Skibowl will be having one of the largest New Year’s Eve gatherings in the Northwest for the 21st straight year. Not only will this celebration be kicking off the New Year, it will also be kicking off the celebration of 80 years of organized skiing at the area! There will be anniversary events all season long to celebrate this great history of skiing on Mt. Hood and at Mt. Hood Skibowl. What better way to start it off than with our annual New Year’s Eve party.
With all of the great snow Mt. Hood has been receiving this should be one of the best years ever. The celebration at Skibowl has something for the entire family and extends from the ski resort itself into Government Camp. Skibowl will feature skiing and riding until 2:00 a.m., tubing until 9:00 p.m. and a fireworks show at midnight. Two Skibowl affiliated companies will be hosting events just outside the ski area. Mt. Hood Adventure (www.MtHoodAdventure.com) will be holding it’s annual snowshoe bonfire tour where they will set off into the woods and watch the fireworks at midnight in front of a bonfire. In Government Camp, Mt. Hood Adventure will be featuring horse drawn sleigh rides all evening. At the Ratskeller there will be live music featuring The Way Downs to help bring in the New Year.
The Skibowl New Year’s Eve Extravaganza has something for people of all ages. This should be one of the premier places you will find anywhere to begin the New Year!
Mt. Hood Skibowl is the largest night ski area in America. Skibowl is also well known for being the family friendly resort on Mt. Hood with our multiple tube hills and tube tows, sleigh rides, snowmobile tours, snow shoe tours and indoor play area.
