Just a little sneak peak from Europe, where legendary pro shredders JP Solberg, DCP, and Romain De Marchi are getting some early-season pow and testing their new boards. They are starting a new board brand that is yet-to-be-named. But, as you can see, the guys are testing new boards with a YES WE CAN base graphic. Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.

Unreal news, should be a sick company
December 16th, 2008 at 2:20 pm
why will it be sick? it will undoubtably be off the shelf constructions and tech from GST or Elan. juts another “brand” with no engineers or designers behind it. boring. long live mervin, long live the BMC, long live indies with their own factories, and death to all these cookie cutter rider owned nonsense brands
December 16th, 2008 at 2:26 pm
Mambosok obviously cares a lot about technology.
December 16th, 2008 at 2:33 pm
i dont think he gives a shit about the technology. he’s talking about the originality of the brand and how companies like lib tech have their shitty little production shacks and pump out dope shit because they care…
December 16th, 2008 at 2:38 pm
i think popsicle is right
December 16th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
These dudes are nutz, should save your money, hopefully you are spending someone elses money.
December 16th, 2008 at 2:48 pm
for sure but thecnology is what makes a good board. lib tech has progressed snowboarding so much. they first started the banana tech and now look where it’s gone. they just care about the progression of making snowboards better and they’ve done just that but you need the research and technology behind making a good board.
December 16th, 2008 at 4:09 pm
“death to all these cookie cutter rider owned nonsense brands” That is messed up man you should go play football and suck your mamas tit. The last thing the snowboard industry needs is lame large corporate companies coming in to try and take over. LONG LIVE RIDER OWNED AND OPERATED BRAnDS!!
December 16th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
True, it’s just another company, but, it’s our company.
we have decided together to take this challenge, isn’t just a snowboard brand.
I’m with RDM from 15 years now, i saw the snowboard changing, the olympics come and destroy the philosophy, i saw compagny buying brands to kill it. Now it’s time to do what we want. it is a risk YES, it is a financial risk YES, but .. YES WE CAN !
we have decided to do our brand together.
Yes We Can board are the first collector serie, name, logo and design coming soon…
you like it ? cool, no ? ok, isn’t a problem, we never want to do compromises to be ” in the hype ”
YES WE CAN !

glad to see these guys resurface. they are too good to disappear.. Good luck, rider owned brands always deserve a fighting chance.

dude who ever is on the right is wearing atmosphere outerwear! represent!
December 16th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
How about Kemper or Avalanche or Silence? Oh wait, those were rider owned companies that sucked balls. Just cause you’ve got some pro shreds doesn’t mean shit anymore. You better have a sound business plan and solid financial backing. Or you could set out to fool us all like “Rome” tried to and just be another strain of the Burton virus.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Burton is killing snowboarding. They dropped these guys, riders who pushed snowboarding on snow, to help Shaun White sell out snowboarding and sponsor a bunch of pipe jocks. Now they won’t sponsor snowboard movies except their own. Their shit breaks all the time, yet they are in every shop in the world. Burton has left the idea of snowboarding on mountains behind for athletes who are no different than the self-centered little bitches in baseball and football. Burton should probably sponsor some Nascar driver.
December 16th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I must agree with mambosok!!
Clearly homeslice does his Snowboard Homework!!
who really needs another GOOD LOOKING board with radial sidecut?
Oh snap you mean that COOL DUDE rides it, oh and they just signed him too… I guess we should all get them if their team is that COOL!
While you were making fun of the jocks my bet is Mambosok was snowboarding. Better yet if you have never heard of Mambosok the brand odds are good he was snowboarding when you were sucking on your moms titties!!
If you are going to take time away from stitching in your pants at least do some homework.. Know things like the mad scientists over at mervyn might know what’s up when it comes to tech(Golden Fleece are you kidding me), or maybe the fact that for the first ten years or so before they were bought by Burton, Forum was (like many other brands) made by Elan!! Now you may actually have to enjoy snowboarding to know this one but I think it’s my favorite lil’ tidbit of snowboard trivia… Who owns the most “G” brand in the biz? Well kiddies that goes to yer moms favorite skiwear company. Spyder happens to be the proud owner of a little companny called TECHNINE, now that’s Gangster!!
LONG LIVE RIDER OWNED AND OPERATED BRAnDS!!
December 16th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
wow. you are an idiot.
December 16th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
this is the single the single most intelligent reply that I have ever seen on this site. mad props.
December 17th, 2008 at 12:52 am
your not super smart… Rome is owned by the old engineers for Burton… They quit Burton and started there own brand… The Rome Anthem is the same exact specs as the Custom which These guys created.. They also took the burton boot designer for the new line of boots… So really it’s owned by a bunch of guys who said Fuck You Burton..
December 17th, 2008 at 3:20 am
You definitely are a Kook, Kook….Burton has been sponsoring Mack Dawg, Standard, Absinthe, Sandbox, etc movie productions for over a decade and still does so.
Pipe jocks? Just one guy, Kevin Pearce. Where and how do you think DCP, RDM, Gigi, JP got their break to blow up? Maybe Burton not re signing guy’s like Jeff Brushi, Derek Hedit, and A team guy’s in the late 90’s to make room for these guy’s. And now these guy’s are in their 30’s and are in the twilight of their career’s (don’t get me wrong, they absolutely killed it, still killing it, and helped Burton blow up, but Burton did the same thing for them). Moving salary funds to guy’s like Danny Davis, Mickey Renz, Lucas Debari, Harrison Gray, Mark Sollars who are coming to their prime, like DCP, RDM, Gigi were, about 10 years ago……a good company keeps progressing and moving forward and developing new riders so people like you can slobber all over their movie parts and got back to your high school and spit how rad you think so and so is.
And Burton has left the idea of snowboarding on the mtn’s? Holy crap dude, they are still the only company owend by one dude who shred’s more than 100 days a year.
Check yourself.
December 17th, 2008 at 4:10 am
aahhhh, amazing.
for once the user comments’ section has been interesting. it’s good to see people concerned by such a piece of info and to read things a bit more legit than just pure bullshit.
yeah Romain, JP and David definitely deserve to get into the board biz. And yes, hopefully they’re going to push snowboarding in the right direction and not just print topsheets. knowing a bit Romain’s temper and dedication, I beleive it’s going to be good.
Yeah, Mervin (LIB) is probably the best snowboarding company at the moment. But like any other it’s part of a bigger scale scheme as they are quiksilver owned.
And finally, yeah Burton make people who care about snowboarding want to throw up anytime they’re finding a way to maintain their monopole. Who else than Burton is producing and selling stuff which can pretty much only be compatible with other Burton prods (Inserts system, highbacks and Boots shape…)?
I call that disrespect toward the great mix that represent the snowboarding family (well, when I started there was one).
Such brand policy can not be excused by the great input a guy named Jake gave us by developing snowboarding.
Hopefully the economical down will recenter things a bit like it did for skateboarding in the 90’s before Tony Hawk’s game fatality.
Anyway. Im stoked to read passionate people and stoked for Romain, DCP and JP “master of the style” Solberg.
Hope they can prove anybody wrong!
Allez les gonz! Prouvez leurs que vous en avez dans le froc!
salut
December 17th, 2008 at 4:32 am
you guys dont even know whats up yet. shut it?
December 17th, 2008 at 5:13 am
SK, what are you talking about? JP Solberg is 24 or 25, and his 10 tricks in the absinthe video pretty much destroys people’s whole jumping careers. Gigi is damn near the best snowboarder on the planet right NOW - and you’re talking about 10 years ago as if you were even born then. No offense to the mentioned, but one of your friends should slap you for even comparing Mikey Rencz to these dudes, and I think mikey will agree.. That’s some hateful shit. Don’t tell people to check themselves, you just don’t know.
I agree with this last guy; you people don’t even have any info about this company besides the fact that it will soon exist. All hail Mervin for keepin it prog, but honestly: dudes are ripping radial sidecuts, tech is cool - but unnessecary when it comes down to having fun. Too much bull.
December 17th, 2008 at 9:17 am
You are wrong mambo, the boards are being designed by some excellent riders & designers, the factory is also top notch.
You do know who owns Mervin don’t you?
December 17th, 2008 at 9:56 am
This is all bullshit….people drop and pick up sponsers all the time……companies pop up and dissapear all the time..snowboarding is no grassroots sport anymore, its getting to be a legitamized sport and in that comes politics and other corporate bullshit that all stems from money Take it or leave it thats just the way it is
December 17th, 2008 at 11:15 am
This has been a fun read. Will be interesting to see how things shape up for these dudes. There is many rider owned companies that are successful at the moment. Every one seems to mention Mervin as the premium board brand with there own factory. May I suggest SIGNAL as an option. Signal doesn’t have the cash flow like Mervin does from Quick. I think Signal is the prime example of some solid boards, good engineering in there own factory. They got the boot from Mervin some years ago but have only got better over the years.
December 17th, 2008 at 11:20 am
brands like rome, burton, capita, endeavor or brands like lucid notion, dinosaurs will die and herr vonster? figure it out and don’t post comments unless you actually have a cogent point, this isn’t snowboard.com
December 17th, 2008 at 11:23 am
its not a matter of who owns what, the difference is if they actually r&d and make their own boards or if they buy off the shelf constructions from the big factories, do you know how many boards there are out there that a cookie cutters of each other with different graphics? you might be surprised.
December 17th, 2008 at 11:27 am
see this is the problem right from the donkeys mouth, collector item? what? who cares. you guys will probably spend more time on your BRAND logo than on the construction and tech of your boards. you’ll get prices from elan (if they can handle more production) GST, maybe nidecker, maybe some of the spanish/tunisia factories or maye even china, who knows, and then you’ll put your little logo on there and then market the boards as “true rider driven for the love of snowboarding”. what a CROCK OF SHIT. we as snowboarders should support factories and companies that are driven by engineering and developing better products, not some shop kids who want to capitilize on some riders names so they can keep surfing in bali all summer.
December 17th, 2008 at 11:32 am
good point. i wish the best of luck to signal in these hard times. if someone is uncomfortable supporting a large company (burton, quik/mervin) with their own factory they should look towards signal or smokin jay or unity or never summer or or or
there are lost of choices still, but not for long if all the sheep start buying DC, Volcom, Pulp69, etc BRANDS (meaning cookie cutter boards with logos on them and no true development behind them).
December 17th, 2008 at 11:41 am
First off, Mack Dawg and Standard aren’t making snowboard videos this year. Second, this year Burton is making all of their riders film for Burton videos ONLY (headed by Brad Kremer). And so obviously, they are NOT sponsoring other videos from now on.
How about you quit spouting off “facts” when in “fact” you have no idea what you’re talking about.

December 17th, 2008 at 11:49 am
..these comments are re-freshing compared to the crap I read posted on, and around the videos.
So much hate flying around here.
December 17th, 2008 at 12:22 pm
I predict these dudes will be broke, and out of business in 3 years tops. Should have put your money into something else.
December 17th, 2008 at 12:23 pm
Good friends as business partners is never very smart either. They will be broke, and not friends too.
December 17th, 2008 at 5:42 pm
Why dont you enlighten us.
December 17th, 2008 at 6:04 pm
It would be good for sure if all snowboard companies could be like Signal, a truly riders driven company, with an his own factory and a R&S behind.
Unfortunately, in particular in these hard times, a thing like that it’s really difficult, and companies are almost obliged to be part of a big company (Mervin\Quiksilver), to have the cash flow to R&D!!
I’m not for this riders driven brands (Volcom, DC, Pulp68…), thay can’t be called in other ways!!!
But I think (or maybe hope) that behind these brands of guys like DCP, RDM, JPS and others there’s only a different idea of snowboarding, an idea of what it truly is, fun with friends!!!
An idea that’s no longer into the big snowboard industries, interested only in making huge profits and selling boards all over the world in a monopole style (Burton).
As said, they’re killing the snowboard world and if these riders driven brands are a way to save it, they’re welcome!!!
I really can’t belive, and I don’t want accept, that are happening things like no more MDP’s or Standard’s movies (Burton foult) or ski companies into snowboard (Nitro\Tecnica, T9\Spyder, Salomon, Atomic….).
Let’s try to keep snowboard as true as possible, even only with a brand; in case, when the tech will be old enough, Elan will increase his budget for R&D!!!!
December 17th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
and what ? we expect to be longer than 3 years,.. if not we just take te oportunity to do what we really want.. and you what you do ?
December 17th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
FUCK YEAH BRA!!! BURTON ZERO 4 LIFE ….not
December 17th, 2008 at 11:45 pm
I really don’t care what my board looks like or says. All i care is that someone put the thought and design into thats gonna get me my money’s worth because face it, im not gonna go drop 300 on a piece of shit just because its not made by some big company.
Real riders can rip just about any board.
p.s. signal snowboards are sick!!
December 18th, 2008 at 12:36 am
THIS JUST IN!!!…If you sell snowboards to the public then you own what’s called a “BUSINESS!”
The purpose of a business (believe it or not) is to make enough money to keep your business alive (if it’s not growin’, then it’s dyin’).
You can say you love a certain company for their ethics and their reasons but they do what they do to make cash… plain and simple
Anyone could give an example for just about every company and how they’re somehow “bullshit” (Dinosaurs Will Die has a MySpace page haa?, Mervin claims to have the perfect, “eco friendly” factory along with Burton’s “Eco Nico” deck… Companies market with myspace and some people consider that sellin’ out and as far as bein’ “eco” and “green” is just marketing and if it didn’t help the bottom line, that shit wouldn’t be used by companies)..
BOTTOM LINE: IF these guys make a “cookie-cutter” board and people are dumb enough to buy in to the marketing BS, then let em’…
Everyone is a sellout
Who gives a shit.. I love snowboarding and love watchin dudes like DCP, Romain, & JP in movies (doesn’t mean you or I should buy their deck because of it tho)… I personally hope they kill all this bullshit talk and do what they do
December 18th, 2008 at 1:20 am
rider driven “brands” might be pretty cool and fun for the core kids who want to emulate skating, but they are crap for the actual riders and the industry. how much does dinosaurs will die give back to the community/sport? the answer would be: nothing. they arent major revenue for shops, they don’t pay any pros (other than sean and keenan maybe) they don’t buy ads in mags and they don’t support any contests. what does burton do for the riders/industry/sport? how many shops can pay the bills just based on their burton sales? how much prize money does burton put up? how many pros get paid? fuck that how many accountants do they have? you may not like burton and or call them the nike of snowboarding, but only a fucking fool will deny what they contributes as an entity to the industry or sport. yeah sure they are tightening the budget (smart move right now) but so what? they still pump more dollars into mags, contest, riders and shops than anyone else. look at rome, they are doing it right. look at capita, probably struggling and they dont deserve too. look at stepchild, endeavor, there are tons of companies that are doing it right. how are they supposed to compete with the lies of DC and Volcom?

DWD’s myspace isnt a myspace bro. Its Sean Genovese’s myspace. Just like Think Thank has a myspace that’s not actually for Think Thank. It’s Burtner’s. i work at a snowboard shop and snowboard everyday, including in -25 below zero conditions. i love it, and i aint gonna stop cause it aint cool. We can ALL tell the difference of ’soup-company owned’ companies to legit companies, but it’s a little tougher to put the ‘legit’ ones into subcategories. and i aint gonna do it. waste of time, hands down. so what im gonna do, just like i do everyday, is sell shit that was created to make a buck for somebody, to somebody who just wants to get out there and ride. like me. so later, i got a rail and a photographer waiting…….
December 18th, 2008 at 5:14 am
hey mambosok, where’s all the hate coming from? did one of the pulp68 guys beat you up? just let them get on with their project and wish them luck instead of bitching like a little girl. and your argument about only backing established brands that already make a contribution to the industry falls down flat on its face - you’re arguing against the entrepreneurial spirit, you dumb piece of shit. we’d be living in caves if people like you were running the show. thank fuck you’re not.
December 18th, 2008 at 5:57 am
Mambosook sounds like such little bitch, did his moms not love him properly?
hehe he’ll end buying one and hate someone else someday, haters need love too!
December 18th, 2008 at 7:09 am
Mate, I agree with you….there’re tons of companies out there that are doing it right!!!
Burton gave a lot to the snowboard world, true, and is still giving but, only for that is different and better than Dc and Volcom right now??? They’re pumping money too!!!
They can be even worse because they buy boards but, they’re all the same, part of the same group, major!
Don’t look at the past (we agree), talk about the present!
December 18th, 2008 at 10:41 am
Yeah! Check some pics of the making of boards that carry a lot of HOPE!
YES WE CAN!

Nomadic Labyrinth (name of brand)
December 18th, 2008 at 1:13 pm
Some sick non “cookie cutter” brands:
Smokin (www.smokinsnowboards.com)
Harlot (www.harlotsnowboards.com)
DWD (www.dinosaurswilldie.com)
These are my 3 favorites at the moment, but there are lots more.
December 18th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
theres no “hate’ dipshit, just discussion. all you fools throw out the hate card when you don’t have a valid point. its like covering your ears and going “lalalalalalalalala” like a little girl.
companies like signal, endeavor, smokin jay (well company is a strong word for that guy), unity, venture, never summer, these are the guys doing it right, not these “brands” that are nothing more than marketing and graphics put to cookie cutter boards. i can tell from what you wrote that your just a little kid who is stuck trying to figure out whats new and exclusive and just eat all the crap that is fed to you, oh what watch is cool now? what t shirts are cool now? not caring about what is behind in a company, just making sure your do rag scarf matches the pink on your 80s shirt or your laces in your AF1’s. come back and talk when you have a clue about the industry and how it works.
December 18th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
wow, what an accurate comment. my “moms” is fine, too bad yours created a semi literate white pretender ghetto gobbler.
word to your muva, hiphop machine.
December 18th, 2008 at 3:34 pm
StLouisAlaskan
I work at a snowboard shop as well and I’ll tell ya right now, if something doesn’t move off the shelves sometime during the season, and SIA comes around… we most likely won’t carry it the following season..
And as far as DWD’s myspace goes that’s like saying ohh well shaun white is a sell out and has a myspace but it doesn’t reflect the company? It’s all one in the same
I ride a rome graft 153 and a custom 158 (If i had the money i’d be gettin a banana hammock) and i’ll tell ya right now both brands are sell outs… that’s what companies in any industry do or they die.
December 18th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Board’s you should buy right now!!
If your ridin pow =Getta tappered board
If ur ridin groomers = Getta directional
If your ridin park/rails= Getta Twin
One company may make the best but it will get you down the mountain 0.8 seconds quicker with a little better of turns… If you take care of your board and don’t do stupid shit, then it won’t matter what you ride and you won’t break your board..
When people come in and say “ohhhhhh man I took my board out and it broke on the first day!!”
My response usually consists of “that’s cause you ran it over rocks…(”Dumbass”-to myself)..
December 18th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
I’ve never seen a board come back within a couple weeks due to natural causes… It’s always the dude who’s ridin’ rails on a sintered base or some kid on his first deck who want’s to see “sparks fly” by ridin’ down the access roads at a resort (my personal fav.)…
December 18th, 2008 at 4:59 pm
THE NAME WAS FIXED TONIGHT… STAY TUNE::::
December 19th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
SO,
I have read a lot of the comments, its all very interesting…but I have one question: It seems to me that mambosok is paid by Burton or something to diss the project , and really, what do you really care about? wait till it comes out, if you like it, buy it and if you dont ,buy something else. IT seems to me that there is room for these guys to put something sweet together and it will be a very fun project for them and they will learn a lot and they can take what they have learned in the last 10 plus years of pro snowboarding and apply it to their own company. It sounds great to me!
I agree that technology is important and off course those guys want to ride some sick boards, so I wouldnt worry too much about that.
In the mean time, mambosok, keep dissing , we enjoy it…
December 19th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
Dude, i hear ya mayn. Selling out’s the new buying in! Remember at the tradeshow how Rome and Consolidated were all ‘FUCK Nike!, don’t shop corporate!’ the whole time!?! Dude, man- both companies sell their shit at Zum-Floomz. I’m not hatin on anyone, sorry if i came off like a d-bag, just watchin homies backs. those guys are legit and ride for great companies. oh, and get a box-scratcher mayn! they’re clutch on rails. I’m snaggin a skate-banana next week to take it out it the big ‘ol Alaska backcountry we got here- i’ll let you know how it rides. My boss is on one right now and loves it.
December 19th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
I have to add something to mambosok…what is your problem? Calling everyone out but the companies that you love. I think that you are allowed be stoked on something and bummed on other things…But you are not the only one who is right, and you are certainly not the only one who knows something in this industry. Do you even snowboard? Why do you snowboard?
Snowboarding should be about having fun with your friends at the mountains, riding the lift from when it opens until it closes, calling sick on powder days and just laughing out load when you get sprayed by your friends. So, if 3 guys who loves snowboarding so much, who’s snowboarding is their life want to start a company together so they can travel, ride pow, chase storms and design boards they want to ride (remember they all rode for burton for more then 10 years) and have a ton of fun in the process, well you have 2 choices: Support them or don’t , but don’t discourage others or diss others opinions!
where are you from anyways? I have a feeling you are frustrated because there isnt any good mountains around where you are from…just a guess!
December 19th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
i love how you guys all cover the fact that you want to have bleached butt hole sex with each other.
if you guys spent half the time in this shit box, as you do on the hill you’d all be starting your own fruit loop brand du jour.
December 20th, 2008 at 4:53 pm
What a dumb comment. it takes a few minutes out of a day to type a comment out. the hill isn’t open all the time fool.
December 20th, 2008 at 10:33 pm
Who the fuck cares? Some people don’t know shit about all the details of the industry and some just don’t care. Snowboarding is about riding and being happy, all the rest is bullshit. If it means more to you to buy from one company than the other, have at it. Don’t expect or look down on others that don’t have the same mentality or interest to get into all the industry minutia prior to buying gear.
These guys are awesome snowboarders, I wish them all the success for inspiring me with their riding over the years. But good riders doesn’t necessarily translate into good businessmen. If you’re in business, its to make money. Period. They’re not engineers, they didn’t go to business school, they’re snowboarders. Good luck to them, it ain’t easy.
And for the record, Burton’s ICS pisses me off so in protest, I won’t buy it.
Go ride and have fun, don’t sweat the small stuff. Life’s too short.
December 22nd, 2008 at 7:46 pm
Do Euro’s always have to copy American Slogans. “No we Can’t” is a better idea. You need more than good riders to create a good company especially when these guys will have to learn how to ride a toys R Us board instead of an UNinc. Good Luck Stoners!!
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:03 pm
how bout we get everyone in an open, live debate in person where people cant take minutes or hours to formulate intelligent rebuttals that overtake the last person’s comment.
LETS ALL MASS DEBATE!!!
haha. say it fast.
December 23rd, 2008 at 3:30 pm
who do you think presses these small rider owned companies? the big corporate co. i say go green with your construction abd manufacturing. this is the future of all construction from homes to automobiles and more.
peace out.
December 24th, 2008 at 4:57 pm
So let me get this right. Spyder owns Technine? This is really the only new thing I learned after wasting the past 5 minutes reading you little girls bitch. I am literally crying from laughing so hard after I read that. Poor little wannabe ghetto kids. Their hearts will be broken.
Props to DCP, JP, and Romain. I hope it turns out well for you guys.
December 24th, 2008 at 10:04 pm
true, lib tech is sick but they didnt start banana/rocker tech in snowboards…
December 24th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
Amen brother. Just have fun!
December 25th, 2008 at 12:26 am
Im not going to take the time and read the bullshit posted here
but I did see something at the top about cookie cutter companies
and big factory mass produced pressed boards with no innovation
well I pose this question to you WHAT THE FUCK IS BURTON DOING
THAT IS SO PROGRESSIVE AND CUTTING EDGE? One of the biggest
names/companies in the industry were basically last to jump on
the banana tech and copied the magne traction idea what 6 years
later? The new no board that they have isnt theirs and they tried to
buy the company out for the tech but the company said fuck you
end result the no fish someone else’s innovation with their name
NICE!
YES WE DID!
and maybe
YES WE CAN?
December 25th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
burton should drop jermey jones, that old bastard is played out.
December 26th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
like armade

burton are still sponsoring euro movies. dick.
December 30th, 2008 at 2:25 pm
Congrats to these guys, I wish them the best of luck. I met some of these guys after Jeff passed and they were good people, not your typical industry losers.
JLA is snowboarding.
January 5th, 2009 at 11:39 am
Company Name Suggestion: Nation Snowboards?
Good luck. ” It Can Be Done ” That’s how other’s have done it in the past, learn from the mistakes and take your risk. As riders a risk is taken everyday. DO IT !!!
January 7th, 2009 at 12:27 pm
Burton doesn’t make a board with anything close to magnetraction dipshit.
January 8th, 2009 at 6:56 pm
i was under the impression that volcom wasnt selling their boards to the average joe, like they do with their wetsuits, that they will be supplying boards to their sponsored riders only…..does that sound correct?
January 9th, 2009 at 6:58 pm
Just remember the fact that for many years these guys not only rode for Burton and looked good for the camera of the big corporate company, they also had a little model called the uninc that believe it or not, was very rider influenced! Which would imply that these guys have an idea or two about how snowboards should be designed. I say go get em guys, just send it! Peace.
January 10th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
u guys are all haters,
burton kicked off the sickest riders on their team and ur givin them shit that their board company is goin to suck, well ur wrong, it was the same with nike and their boots. every one thought those were goin to suck,
GIVIN A CHANCE!!!!!,
the shred shall be with you guys
January 11th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
January 14th, 2009 at 4:02 pm
Amen!
January 19th, 2009 at 9:36 pm
im not trying to hate on everyone elses comments or anything, because like a few people have said, it is fun to read. That being said, it’s everyone that comments about this kind of stuff that is turning snowboarding into a sport like football and baseball. The media and the fans control what happens in the sport. If everyone would just do what they want, how they want, when they want when it comes to riding, snowboarding could remain the art that it is (or was). So just buy shit if you like it, if not…don’t. Enjoy the art that is snowboarding and keep your mouths shut.
And best of luck to JP, RDM, and DCP, should be fun to see what those amazing guys can come up with.
January 19th, 2009 at 10:04 pm
and just to throw this in…Skeetz…I agree with you 100%
January 20th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
Stoke Snowboards???
January 25th, 2009 at 12:20 pm
No SK has it right.
Its scary how much Burton’s business model is beginning to mirror an NFL franchise.
January 25th, 2009 at 12:31 pm
I’m glad someone still has a brain. or maybe he actually went to college.
January 25th, 2009 at 5:57 pm
The first thing i wanna say is… WHY DOES EVERYONE LOVE ROME SO MUCH? Where does all of this respect for their company come from and how can you consider yourself a “better” company when you make your boards EXACTLY the same?? They make Burton boards with the “Rome” name stamped on them. All their technology is lifted from Burton…we know this…and i suppose you could defend it by saying, “they were the R&D guys from Burton, they invented the tech.” But how involved were these guys? Do we really know? They are riding the coat tails of this “fuck Burton” scam and acting like Rome is Gods gift to snowboarding. If they were really that good at what they did I’m pretty sure Burton could have thrown enough money at them to make them stick around… you know? But i digress… back to my main issue the term “pipe jocks.”
Pipe jocks? So suddenly its a bad thing to be an athlete AND be a snowboarder? Suddenly Shaun White is a “jock” now? Right. “Lets just hate this rider because he is the best at what he does,” seems to be the only thing i hear these day. I will admit however that his video game sucks, but he IS snowboarding, he is the reason OUR sport is still growing. Can we please get away from all of this elitist bull shit and maybe just be happy that there is someone doing 1260s in competition? it seems like some people want to keep snowboarding all to themselves, and get mad when it becomes just a little more “main stream.” I just would like you guys to keep in mind that there are actually three mountains in the united states that STILL don’t allow snowboarding…how main stream is that? I say promote OUR sport as much as possible, PUMP super starts like Shaun White, and make him a role model for kids, so that once my generation is controlling the world people won’t look at snowboarding as something thats only for “cool” kids. Get off your high horse, you people are no better then the “jocks” you seem to hate so much, i mean aren’t “jocks” the ones who alienated you in high school? aren’t they the ones who made fun of you and said that you “didn’t fit in, didn’t belong?” PEACE, LOVE, and RESPECT FOR ALL!! more power to the people who are keeping it real… like Jake.
Watch “It’s always snowing somewhere,” and try to tell me Shaun White is a “pipe jock,”
and after you pick your jaw up off the ground you can try to explain to me what you guys are talking about when you say “Burton has lost their vision.”
January 26th, 2009 at 10:53 am
AMEN, AMEN!! don’t matter what you’re rocking as long as you’re killing it
January 26th, 2009 at 10:56 am
that is so fucking dope
January 26th, 2009 at 5:23 pm
NO CHANCE ???
January 28th, 2009 at 2:59 pm
I agree with JMurhpy. Burton’s done all lot for snowboarding. Burton aims to keep our sport alive by recruiting new snowboarders.
Check out the Chill program, or all the boards they make specifically for rental shops and beginners. They want people who don’t snowboard, to start snowboarding. And maybe if these newbies become hardcore riders they’ll buy a board other than Burton, but Burton will still have done their job. Because burton is committed to snowboarding as a whole.
Sure, the snowboarding explosion saved the ski industry, but who will save snowboarding?
February 27th, 2009 at 7:40 pm
I grew up and Progressed In my snowboard looking Up to This riders. They represent Real snowboarding to me.
From the most deep Of my hearth I Wish the best of luck to them. Theirs will be a real deal core brand. Wile Their old sponsor kicked them out Replacing them with park and pipe machines. While they gave them their riding and steez regardless of what could happen.
It’s embarrassing How people act like haters posting negative coments that don’t help at all. just sends negative vibrations away. this will come back and hitcha down stairs fellas.
PEACE
March 27th, 2009 at 8:49 am
My e-mail is full so i’ll send you another but I have an awesome idea for the pictures on the boards I’m trying to get my idea around it’s pretty basic but has the right stuff to make it Please reply I’m trying to talk to the owners of snowboarding companies
July 29th, 2009 at 5:11 am
Do Euro’s always have to copy American Slogans. “No we Can’t” is a better idea. You need more than good riders to create a good company especially when these guys will have to learn how to ride a toys R Us board instead of an UNinc. Good Luck Stoners!!
July 29th, 2009 at 5:12 am

why will it be sick? it will undoubtably be off the shelf constructions and tech from GST or Elan. juts another "brand" with no engineers or designers behind it. boring. long live mervin, long live the BMC, long live indies with their own factories, and death to all these cookie cutter rider owned nonsense brands
December 3rd, 2009 at 7:11 pm
i think the concept for this company is good, sort of like the snowboarding equivalent of blank skateboards. The main challenge for something like this is to convince people its a decent product. In skateboarding it seems most kids ride blanks cause there cheaper and the quality is usually just as good as graphic brand skateboards. Quality will speak for it self if you make a good product, people will hear about it and be interested. Brand recognition i don't think will be that tough in these days, facebook groups, mypace, twitter, and general word of mouth on the internet can be very effective forms of advertising (ala the move paranormal phenomenon). Add some style to the boards and you could have a recipe for success. The main competition will be other "cheap best bang for your buck thrash the park" boards like the capita stair master and the Burton blunt. They need to offer something that these models do not.
