TELLURIDE SKI RESORT PRIMED FOR OPENING DAY
Chairs Begin to Turn Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27
TELLURIDE, Colo. (Nov. 24, 2008) – New terrain, restaurants, and lodging highlight Telluride Ski Resort’s opening this winter.
The Resort will open the Gondola, Village Express (Lift 4) and the Chondola this Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27, 2008. Skiing and riding will be available on Village Bypass, Lower Boomerang, Lower Misty Maiden and Meadows runs. The Mountain Village and Oak Street ticket offices will be operating.
The new Revelation Bowl and quad chairlift are ready to open as snow conditions allow. Ski Patrol is installing new trail maps and has completed training on two new Howitzers’ purchased this season for improved avalanche control. Snowmaking has been building up a stellar base since late October, and grooming has been working with new Prinoth Snowcats to prepare the slopes for an amazing snow season.
The Ski & Snowboard School and Nursery will be offering all services, as well as early season specials for a limited time only: Private Lessons will cost just $100 for one hour, $200 for two hours, continuing up to an all-day session. All-day adult and child group lessons will cost just $100.
Two new mountain restaurants, the Hop Garden and Alpino Vino will debut this winter. Hop Garden will open this Thursday with craft beers, great food and après ski. Crazy Elk will also be open for business Thanksgiving Day. Allred’s opens Wednesday for both dinner and après ski. A special prix-fixed menu runs through Dec. 17th with a $35 per person menu, $60 per person with wine pairings. Allred’s will also be serving Thanksgiving dinner for the same fixed price, with all the traditional turkey day accoutrements. Alpino Vino will offer an international wine list, specialty cheese and antipasto plates. Gorrono, Alpino Vino, Giuseppe’s, Big Billies and High Camp will open as snow conditions allow.
