At White Pines in Arnold, Owner Derek Anderson asked for input from his employees to decide who offers the best service. Manager Armondo Enrquez and Brian Wallentine agree that Morrow is the best company to work with. “They return calls and they’re there when we call,” Anderson says. “They handle returns quickly and do a good job all around.”
Anderson also notes a few companies that are hard to get a hold of, including Airwalk, Santa Cruz, and Vans.
Matt Pindroh, manager at Liberty Board Shop in Brea, puts Lib Tech at the top. “Any time we have an R.A. return authorization, they get it boxed up and shipped out right away,” he says. “They’re one of our best-selling boards as well.”
Subtle Snowboards also treats Liberty right, but Pindroh credits that to the friendship between company owner and shop owner: “I guess that’s cheating.”
Telephone customer service has had an impact on Sarah Engen, manager of Landlocked Surf Company in Chico. Though she listed Burton as offering the best all-around service, Morrow’s over-the-phone customer service is at the top. “They’re definitely the best,” she says. “Probably better than Burton.”
But clinics and the information provided in its catalog give Burton the higher rating from Engen.
Burton also tops the list at Blauer Ski Rental in Big Bear Lake. “They’re incredibly organized,” says Owner Jim Blauer. “They have great follow-through. I get immediate response on a R.A. and a projected ship date. They’ll follow up with a fax stating when the product went out so I know when to expect it. I think their attitude is ‘keep the customer happy’.”
Morrow Snowboards is also among the best-servicing brands at Java Summit Sports in Soda Springs. “My manager has known the sales rep for years and they give us fantastic customer service,” says Owner Buck Brown. “Santa Cruz has also been good to work with. Sales reps come and go, but as a company, Santa Cruz has done a great job.”
Brown also lists Winterstick and Airwalk as companies that’ve given Java Summit good service.
At Oakies Board Shop in Oakdale, Santa Cruz and Oxygen are both doing a good job. “I can always get a hold of someone at Santa Cruz,” says Owner Cryndee Dermond. “And Oxygen is always prompt with deliveries so they’re pretty good as well.”
