In Beaver Creek, Colorado, Rod Connolly, owner of The Other Side, singles out Nitro as the best board manufacturer in terms of vendor services. He says treatment from both the rep and support through the company’s warranty places the company ahead of the other companies.
“The rep has been good to us and Nitro provides a two-year warranty, even if the damage is due to rider error from things like hitting rocks,” says Connolly.
He also commends Never Summer, a local company, for always providing good service. Dealer services from Salomon and Ride are also good, and as for boots, Connolly’s shop has had the best rapport with Northwave, Nitro, and Salomon.
Personnel at Polar Revolution in Keystone, Colorado express a bit of exasperation at the concept of “service” due to early season mix-ups and
late deliveries. But, Manager Lizard expresses without hesitation that
both Burton and Ride reps have been the best for the shop.
“They’re always trying to keep us on top,” says Lizard.
Deliveries at Polar Revolution were behind schedule for most manufacturers this year, but K2, Ride, and Bombshell did better than others.
At The Click in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Owner Josh Kaufman says customer service from Joyride, Nitro, and 32 Boots has been tops at his store.
These companies shipped early, and Kaufman says they’re the most straightforward manufacturers to deal with. Also, Joyride provided a prompt and efficient remedy when the shop received a mixed-up board shipment.
“They sent us some lame boards,” says Kaufman, “so we sent them back and Joyride sent us new ones right away.”
Nitro has provided great rep service as well as customer service for The Click. Kaufman says Nitro’s customer service has been particularly successful with replacement-parts orders.
Heading toward the Utah border, at Powderhorn Sports in Mesa, Colorado, service from Never Summer and Rossingol has been the most exceptional. Owner Rondo, who also owns Over the Edge Sports in Fruita, Colorado, says, “They’re the two easiest companies to work with. Both are very businesslike, and there’s no hassle with ordering. The reps are good, too.”
Randy Bonn, co-owner of The Shredding Edge in Tucson, Arizona, says the shop has had good working relationships with all of its reps. In particular, Never Summer, Mervin Manufacturing, and Salomon have been superior lines to work with.
“Definitely Never Summer,” says Bonn when asked who offers the best vendor services. “It provides a two-year warranty on decks, and the company has good people to work with. Mervin Manufacturing has a good product and good customer service. We’re also real happy with Salomon–it got us all set up.”
