(CARLSBAD, CA), March 20, 2003–Spy Optic Inc. has announced the appointment of Jessica Trent Nichols as Director of Global Communications. In this newly created position, Nichols will be responsible for the company’s corporate announcements, domestic and international media relations, and consistency of brand communication. Recognized as one of the leaders in women’s action sports, she will additionally have a senior role in the further development of key women’s initiatives at Spy.
Nichols has extensive experience in the action sports and fashion industries, including previous roles in marketing, public relations, and journalism. She was most recently accredited as the key player in Billabong’s product placement and marketing partnership with Universal Pictures’ theatrical and home video/DVD release of Blue Crush. Nichols also served on the ESPN Action Sports & Music Awards Committee for 2001 and 2002, selecting the most influential athletes of the year and the moments that defined the progression of action sports.
