Peter Line. 1994.
Here’s an artsy shot of Pete Line performing a misty flip, the sport’s first off-axis kicker rotation. Pete started chucking these in the Northwest at the same time Ali overrotated a Stevie Alters-influenced corked back 360 attempt to 540 in Colorado. Basically, the two came up with the same trick at once.
The misty flip is simply an off-axis backside 540-today you’d called it a corked or inverted backside 540. Think, Bjorn Leines. The innovative move changed everything, and soon, every pro was getting twisted. The misty set the stage for rodeos, naturally-but that’s another story.-Dresser
