What The Pros Are Rockin’ – Marie-France Roy
Age: 23
Sponsors: Rome, Oakley, Red Bull, 32, etnies, Drop, Whistler/Blackcomb, Magical GOGO
Years snowboarding: 12
Roots: Les Eboulements, Qubec
Home: Whistler, BC
Height: 5’6″
Weight: 125 lbs.
Stance: Regular, 22.5 inches wide with 21 degrees angle on my front foot and negative-21 on the back.
Forward lean: None.
Board: I ride the Rome Vinyl 152 ($370) for park and jumps, the Rome Detail 146 for street rails, and the Rome Blue 155 for powder.
Boots: ThirtyTwo Timbas ($209) tan and whit, size 8.5.
Bindings: Rome Madison ($190).
Personal settings: I have always been pretty ghetto. I don’t measure my stance width, maybe I should sometimes! I usually know if something feels wrong and I adjust it so it feels good.
Tuning techniques: I usually detune a brand-new board a bit because I rarely touch the pipe. For street rails I detune it a lot so it’s really dull and smooth.
Outerwear: For park, I usually like some good baggy pants and jacket that is insulated enough that I don’t have to wear three hoodies underneath. For powder days, a good puffy is my favorite. For rails, unless its negative-30 degrees, the best setup is some baggy snowboard pants and a long hoodie.
Jacket: Oakley Vest and Hoodie ($xxx).
Pants: Oakley Seamed Legs Pants ($225) in black.
Gloves: Drop Women’s Pipe Gloves($45)
Goggles: Oakley A Frames ($120). I use dark lenses for sunny days and light lens for fog and clouds.
Helmet: Pro-Tec.
How would you classify your riding style: I like a bit of everything. I love pillow lines, park jumps on sunny days, hitting a street rail at night with friends, riding the pipe in the spring when it’s all slushy-Everything is so freakin’ fun!
