Toronto, ON ¿ The Motorola International Snowboard Federation (ISF) WorldTour touches down in Stoneham, Que. for its only Canadian stop this season.The Canadian Masters, March 8-11, 2001, is one of 12 international eventsmaking up the World Tour.
Snowboarding’s top athletes will be competing for a share of the $1o5,000U.S. prize purse in the disciplines of Halfpipe and Giant Slalom as well asan Invitational Big Air Quarterpipe.
The schedule includes the legendary nighttime Halfpipe event, where Canada’sbest riders ¿ including local favourite and winner of last year’s showdown,Guillaume Morisset (QC), Mike Michalchuk (BC), Brett Carpentier (QC) andNatasza Zurek (BC) ¿ will be competing against a roster of topinternational competition, including Olympic medallists Gian Simmen (SUI),Ross Powers (USA) and Stine Brun Kjeldaas (NOR).
The Giant Slalom (GS) will see top-ranked Canadian riders Jasey Jay Anderson(QC) and defending champion Mark Fawcett (NB) compete alongside the world’sbest such as Ueli Kestenholz (SUI) and Brigitte Koeck (AUS) for top honours.This year’s GS event will include an additional incentive: the MotorolaNorth American Prize Pool of $33,000 U.S.

The National Jam Tour also boasts Canada’s largest amateur competition,featuring Halfpipe and Slopestyle competitions. The Jam Tour’s festivalformat includes: free board demos of the sport’s leading brands at theMotorola Boarder’s Village, live bands, DJs, parties and more.
The Canadian Masters is part of the Snowboard Canada National Jam Tour thatwill be nationally televised on The Sports Network (TSN), Reseau des Sports(RDS) and the Outdoor Life Network (OLN). The Canadian Masters will beinternationally televised on Eurosport broadcast in 15 countries acrossEurope.
