NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup 2004/2005

In Chile, Jacobellis increased her efficiency compared to the first event and relegated yesterday’s winner Zoe Gillings (GBR) to the second spot. In the women’s final, Austrian riders Doresia Krings and Manuela Riegler came in third and fourth. In the men’s competition, the podium was dominated by underdogs. Graham Watanabe celebrated his first World Cup victory of his career in front of Polish Mateusz Ligocki who realized his career’s best result too. Mario Fuchs from Austria saved the third spot in front of Drew Neilson (CAN) who was unbeatable in Thursday’s Snowboard Cross.

19-years old US-American Lindsey Jacobellis said after her victory: “I was a little bit disappointed after my fourth place yesterday. But that was the motivation for me to push harder today.” Her fellow countryman Graham Watanabe couldn’t believe that he was on top after his seventh World Cup race of his career: “I still can’t believe it. I’m absolutely happy. I had a good day and was lucky with the wind conditions.”
