Burlington, VT—Today the Burton Global Open Series presented by Motorola announced final competition schedules for the 2007 Burton European Open, taking place from January 20-27, 2007 at Laax Resort in Switzerland. Olympic gold medalist Shaun White plans to attend his first European Open where he will be vying for top slopestyle results to count towards the $100,000 Burton Global Open Series Championship title.
The 2007 European Open will kick off with the men’s and women’s slopestyle finals taking place on January 22, followed by the junior halfpipe and slopestyle competitions on January 23 and 24 and finishing up with men’s and women’s halfpipe finals on January 27. Riders who compete in the slopestyle and halfpipe adult competitions will earn points towards the men’s and women’s Burton Global Open Series Championship titles each worth $100,000, the largest single payout in snowboard contest history. Slopestyle and halfpipe winners will also receive complimentary airfare and accomodations for the Nissan X-Trail Nippon Open, the next event in the Burton Global Open Series.
Over 500 international amateur and pro riders are expected to attend the 2007 Burton European Open including top pros like Finnish riders Markku Koski, Antti Autti and Peetu Piiroinen, Swiss riders Frederik Kalbermatten, Markus Keller, Anne-Flore Marxer, Gian Simmen and Nicolas Müller, Canadian Natasza Zurek and American riders Shaun White, Hana Beaman, Danny Davis and Mason Aguirre.
Known for great entertainment in addition to great riding, the BEO will celebrate an exciting week of competition with live music acts by British group the Stereo MCs at the legendary Laax nightlife hot spot, Riders Palace, on Saturday, January 27.
The Burton European Open is part of the Ticket To Ride (TTR) World Snowboard Tour, the largest group of independent freestyle snowboard events in the world.
