What The Pros Are Rockin’
Bjorn Leines
Age: 29
Sponsors: Rome SDS, Volcom, Oakley, DC Shoes
Years snowboarding: Seventeen
Roots: Big Lake, Minnesota
Home: Salt Lake City, Utah and Big Lake, Minnesota
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 160 lbs.
Stance: Regular, 23-and-one-quarters wide with eighteen-degrees angle on the front foot and negative-nine on the back.
Forward lean: Just a click-it gives you more board control and quicker edge to edge.
Board: Rome SDS Agent series 158 and 160 ($470) for freeriding, Artifact series 153 for jibbing and the Design series 158 for halfpipe and all around
riding.
Boots: DC Allegiance in black ($299), or the DC Ghost in brown ($239) for park days, size 9.
Bindings: Rome SDS Targa bindings in white ($230).
Personal Settings: I usually ride the same liner almost all year. Also, sticker jobs can make or break the look and feel of a board to me.
Tuning techniques: For rails, I pull out the grinder and round ‘em off. I wax my Rome SDS Agent series 155 and 158 for all-mountain riding about every third or fourth time I ride. I like Bluebird Wax because Wille and Lance rip!
Jacket: Volcom Bjorn VCO-OP jacket in kelly/charcoal ($270).
Pants: Volcom Megasis pants in black ($300).
Gloves: Celtek BJL Elemental glove ($60), or the Celtek Pledge glove in blaze orange ($55).
Goggles: Oakley Crowbar frames in white with iridium lenses ($125).
Helmet: I just bought a padded hat and really like the concept. We’ve have been designing one for Celtek.
Riding style: I love to shred, so what ever comes up is fun: rails, halfpipe, park, jumps, whatever. Backcountry powder riding is the best-natural terrain with cliffs, jumps, lines, et cetera is my favorite!
