Mammoth Mountain was the first stop of many on the old Resort Report Tour of ’06. We got it together by about nine, hit the local Starbucks for emails and muffin bottoms, then made a direct bee line to the resort that has it all.
There was a slight haze in the air, but the visibility was good—good enough to see all the shoulder dropping tracked-outness. A day late and a dollar short. And if I’d heard “shoulda’ been here yesterday one more time, I would have ended it on the spot, for Mammoth Lakes has been getting wrecked with snow all of March.
We showed up on one of five clear days this month. Dialed with passes and parking; thanks Oren, we proceeded to meet up with some local riders and got it done from Main to South. Make sure you check the video in all of it’s legitimacy—it’ll give you a good feel of the mountain, and reason to move.
